Hi Grr_roxy, no streaming. However, those students in the same sports CCA are usually grouped in the same class. -

Anyone has more info on the various CCAs in catholic high?
I understand that you cannot choose your own CCA, which I’m not very happy about, especially when the school also does not have an arts club. Why are they quite different from other schools?
I understand from the earlier threads that CCA is not compulsory in P1-P2 which is only compulsory in P3 or P4 onwards? I am abit confused because some parents told me their P1/P2 kids have CCA. So you will receive CCA invites anytime between P1-P3? How does this work?
Many thanks! -

During PE lesson, the teachers will look out for any boys whom might shown potential in a particular sport. These boys will would be invited to join the CCA if they are interested. They call this Talent Identification Programme. This could happen during P1 to P3. Is good to join early, where the chances to become the school team player is higher... good for DSA posibilities.Anyone has more info on the various CCAs in catholic high?

During P4, there will be CCA selection period if your boy still have no CCA. The boys will be asked to try every sport / certain musical test. They will then be given a Choice Form where teacher have identified which CCA they could join. If the boy is not good in any sport or aesthetics, they are likely to join Sphere the generic sport CCA.
I agree is strange, not allowed to choose own CCA. My younger boy was invited to join one of the sport when he was in P2, it was one of CHS key sport CCA ... After 1 year, my boy tell me he want to quit cos he thinks he is the worst player ... So much for talent identification!
I know of one boy in shocked when he saw his form .. choir ?!! I dont even like singing !!
Another boy who was given 5 choices both sports and aesthetics !! super talented in the end he was really one, went to play for the school team and even become the best player within 1 year.
Softball is probably the most expensive CCA to join, most parents have to spent at least $500 some even $1000 to buy all those guards, gloves, helmet etc :moneyflies: ...
Basically CCA in CHS is just, sport, music, dance or scouts. really wish there more choice on area like computer, chess, arts
If more parents voice out hopefully, the school will consider. My elder boy together with some other boys has been winning medals for the school, but the school do not have the CCA, tried asking the school to setup the CCA but has been told resource issue etc....

Hi parents,
I am Greg, a 3rd year Mass Communication student from Ngee Ann Polytechnic.
Recently, my friend told me that her father volunteered for St. Hilda’s Primary School as a security guard more than 10 years ago. As a result of his contribution to the school, both my friend and her brother was able to secure a spot in St. Hilda’s Primary School.
She did not know about this until a few years back when her mum told her.
Hearing this story really inspired me to want to shed light on the amount of effort parents put in for their children’s education.
I want to make a video which documents the contributions parent volunteers make such that their child gets into the school of their choice. Other efforts such as moving into the vicinity of the desired school or joining an affiliated organisations just so that your child gets into your desired school would also help make a compelling and heartwarming story.
Are there any parents here that are part of Catholic High’s PV? -
which cca is that aloyboy? I am really hoping to lobby for an arts class. I think my DS most likely will go on to Sphere as he is not sporty and although i join him up for violin, he hates it. He is really keen in the arts so I am abit peeved there is no arts class. I have never heard of a school that does not do an arts club. How come it does not even have any clubs?
Well noted on the softball cca - thanks for that! I am not sure if he will like the strings ensemble. He has been learning the violin for about a year without any concrete results. He can’t sing or dance either. I really can’t see anything else other than sphere or cub scouts for him.
