I agree with the above.
You are worrying over uncertainties that you can’t control and making undue assumptions too. Actually from the way I see it, we are slowly deviating from psle scores, esp by the time our kids reach p6, it mite be a different ball game all together.
Even for guangyang, every one I talk to told me to be wary of student profiles but from the way I see it, the home environment matters the most. In fact, if u try to look at it from a bigger picture, it’s good to have our kids in a mixed environment and keeping it real for them as they grow up. They need the social skills and EQ to learn to handle and mix with pple from all back ground. Which will definitely be the case for them when they grow up and start working, with geographical boundaries less defined and they might be living life overseas. Can’t shelter them forever too. Which is another reason why I am glad I did not and could not send my child to a school that has only Chinese students (not meant to offend anyone but just my personal preference). These students also bring with them knowledge that our local kids don’t have (not necessary in an academic way). There’s so much to learn from everyone.
U gotta think long term, for me, distance is a huge factor. The time saved could be used efficiently elsewhere, not necessarily on studies but other recreation activies and fun enrichments like piano or swimming. Also your own ease of mind if your child is in a sch nearer to home. I always remember having to call my mum to bring stuff that I forgot and she could just walk over and pass to me
Hope u can give this some good thoughts and come to a comfortable decision soon! All the best! -
Hi,
I'm new to this forum. My son will be schooling in Guangyang Primary school P1 next year. Any mommy who has kid also be entering P1 next year?
It's my 1st experience for my elder son to enter P1.
Anyone can share your experience to me
Thanks -

Hi, Tennansee.
Great to hear that

My girl started at P2 in GYPS in JUL.
She had studied in Singapore International School in Hong Kong for 2 years before and at first I was worried whether she could cope with the changes.
In a recent school event, I found the answer from her smiling face, and she told me it was her first time performing in front of people with a short speech made (she never had it before even she studied in an international school which emphasizes on better creativity and development than normal local school). I felt that she was very happy studying there.
To my surprise, the school facilities are very new and it is just a walking distance from our place.
I have no regret to put my girl at GYPS.

My son is in P1 this year n recently they had a stage performance where we parents r invited. My son n his classmates enjoyed the whole process tremendously n I m happy that the vp n teachers invited us to sit in for a session of teachings which benefited us the parents knowing how the school engaged the children.

Any comments or feedback on the new Guangyang Primary who going to take over from Susan soon? What is his background?
-
MOE Reports shows he is the VP of GYPS which I don't think so. See below link.

He was formerly VP of Jurong West Primary School. Under the direction of MOE, he was posted to GYPS as Vice Principal, prior to assuming the role of Principal of GYPS.

Thanks very much for both Tennansee and Sunshine. Just hope that he can do better than Susan
