CHIJ (Kellock)
-
dear fellow parents,
I stay within 2KM of CHIJ (Kellock), any feedback on how the school is like? I read a year ago they drive the kids too hard, making them stay in school still 3pm everyday? i came fromSt Margarets myself and believe in all rounded education in a nice christian envirnment…however I attended the sec not the pri school so no preference in P1 admission…guess best chance is with schools close by…trying to decide whether radin mas or CHIJ better, any thoughts?
cheers

Hello Fern,
If you do not stay within 1km of Radin Mas, its practically not possible for you to enrol, basis on previous historic enrolment results.
The girls do not stay back unless they hv their enrichment, CCAs or remedial classes. The only day for late dismissal for all is on Fridays - till 3.30pm.
Fm what i see basis on the curriculum my DD is having, they are really emphasizing on an All-rounder. I wld believe this is generally the case for CHIJ schools.
Currently in P1 this year, they hv roller-blading, art classes and even teaching them on household chores like folding clothes etc.
This has, in fact, helped my DD settle well into P1. -
nansk:
Hi Nansk,Hi all,
Please post here (to let me know) the date for the school registration. Last year, it was in early October.
All the vendors (shoes, uniform, bookshop) will be there and we want to re-stock on some items.
Thanks in advance
The registration dates are from 18-20 Oct.
Hi experienced Kellock mummies,
By the way, can I check if it is really necessary to attend the orientation coz there's another important event for my family to atten on that day, so I am thinking if my gal will miss out anything if we don't attend the orientation. -

Thank you very much!
By the way, can I check if it is really necessary to attend the orientation coz there's another important event for my family to atten on that day, so I am thinking if my gal will miss out anything if we don't attend the orientation.
I don't think it is absolutely necessary. You may want to visit the school with your girl when you are free so as to familiarize her with the layout (canteen, washrooms, P1 classrooms, office, nurse's office, etc.) -
Thks, nansk! Guess we will choose to go for dd’s graduation after all then.

Hi all,
Realised that the P1 has no Math textbook and workbook. Does the school uses their in-house materials? What do we need to do to make sure the kids are prepared for their Math? thank u so much -
Time to get the P1 maths 10-year series!

Heehee, is there P1 Math 10 year series?? Btw, is this the first year where P1 has no textbook? Or the current P1 is actually using Math textbook and workbook? Can any P1 mummies advise please? thank you

This year’s P1 class also had no text or workbook. They worked in worksheets printed by the school.
At home, we practised with an assessment book. You may look at the options during Popular BookFest (18-27 Nov at Suntec) and choose one assessment book that appeals to you. More than one at P1 would be an overkill, imho. -
