CHIJ (Kellock)
about the CHIJ is not academic but character
This implies that schools that emphasize character development don't teach academic concepts well. And conversely, that schools that emphasize academic performance neglect good character traits in their students! So, if (say) Rulang Primary focuses on turning out PSLE toppers, does that mean that Rulang students are not well-behaved? Or that CHIJ (Kellock) girls are better behaved than Rulang girls? This is a preposterous claim!
And even if such a claim is true, I, for one, would prefer to have my dd grow to be a well-behaved person, rather than have her score excellent results at PSLE, but be rude, bad-tempered, lazy, or whatever.
Have you, or those friends of yours, seen CHIJ (Kellock) girls' PSLE results closely? -

I do understand. I also did not know anyone in the school before my dd joined. That is why I joined this forum.
You said some friends of yours updated you that the school focussed on character development to the detriment of academics - atleast, that is what I understood from your brief posts - which is why I asked for more details. If someone makes a claim like that, they have to be prepared to back it up.
You can always come to this forum with your queries. I know all of us are anxious to choose the most ideal school for our little ones. We, personally, are satisfied with our dd's first year at CHIJ (Kellock). -

No, she is in P2 and we have no experience with the BASC facility. But you can search within this thread; some mums have discussed BASC briefly. -

Thanks!
Which CCA do u intend to let ur gal join next yr?
You know, I have not yet given it a thought!
I must start researching the options now, though. My dd is not very physically strong; she may prefer speech & drama or some such CCA.

Pupils will go through a CCA trial during first two weeks of P3 to assess if they are suitable or has the potential for some of the niche CCAs. If they are chosen, they will be offered the CCA. Heard from my DD, she tried Tennis, Choir, Netball and I canโt remember what else. Ohโฆ and this year, they introduced Swimming as CCA too!
