Beacon Primary

Preciousjam, I am sure the school needs all the PVs that they can get. I think on Orientation Day the Principal will mention it. Coz till now I noticed that most of their activities are done by current students parents. I would also love to continue so that I can know the school/teachers and my kids classmates better.
preciousjam:
hope that more parents will join in so everyone can benefit....
vividlaurel>>does Beacon still want PV? i actually thought since my son gonna be in the school, i don't mind volunteering at least can get to know more about the school.... -

that will be great....i really think its a good way to know what's going on in the school and what the kids are learning as well....
vividlaurel>>saw in the another thread that your kid is in the learning ladder at ten mile...how's the school and the fees like? i'm currently looking for a cc for my youngest... -
Fees at TLL is a bit high, after the subsidy it comes to around 490 per child for half day school. The school is good, teachers are good also. The have some teachers who are parents and so can empathise with us as parents also. If you need anything specific let me know and I'll answer it.

Hi kiasi-dad,
Welcome to KP! Yes I guess your girl is in since balloting is for 1-2 km.
I'm not too sure about other CCA's there, but they have a Learn to Swim programme for P1. It runs from Term 2 and Term 3, with each term having 4 classes. The programme runs for 7 weeks in total and they go to the Bt Batok Swimming pool.kiasi-dad:

I'm not too sure about the costs, guess it comes out of the edusave accounts.
As for preparation to P1, I think I better ask the school once all this hoopla about P1 registration is done. But from what I have seen in the last year that I have been a PV there is that since this is a neighbourhood school, they have a variance in kids abilities - from very good to very bad and so structure the lessons to appeal to the lowest denominator. Some kids in P1 & P2 are so bad in reading that my K2 kids can read better than them.
Hope this helps.preciousjam:

My kids are currently learning swimming from a private instructor, so far so gd. At least my girl's not so afraid of water anymore. Used to be a chore just washing her hair.
Hi Vividlaurel,
Any idea what time's the orientation on 21 Nov?
Classes that my kids go to are: Swimming, Taekwando, CMA & Lollipop (art sch). CMA's the only academic-related sch that they go to. Just want them to enjoy themselves with non academic-related stuff b4 they start primary one, when they will be loaded with homework & classes
Hi Kiasi-dad,
Hv u receive the confirmation ltr yet? I've not...Just wondering whether the rest receive it or not.
