Beacon Primary

My wife went to the open house today and she only has good words to say about the school and the facilities. I would have gone myself had I been in Singapore. My son is excited already to start primary school after going to the school tour.


We really look forward to sending our son to Beacon and I'd love to network with other parents through this forum.

As at end of day today there are still 125 slots available.

Phase 2A1 was concluded yesterday (6 July) and Beacon still has 127 slots out of the total 240. I plan to register my son in Beacon under Phase 2C, and the excitement is starting to build up.

I've heard a lot of good feedback about Beacon and I do hope my son gets to go there. We live 1.6km away but I am pinning my hope on the new policy that Singapore citizens will get priority in allocation of places...

I brought my son to the open hse and he was impressed by the interactive MOI and the IT lab facilities and the lego robotics club.


I talked to VP Lee to assess my chances as I have only try in p2c.
- confirm my future address TOP date is within the cut off date, I m a future resident of Segar Vale BTO
- confirm my future address is considered within 1km of school

However he highlight to me the past record is the school
- last year under 1km have ballot around 20+ kids have to be turned away
- historically this school is not popular with PR so the priority also erm like not much use, each year intake of PR is 4-5 only

My analysis for Beacon is
- If you are a PR don’t even try applying in P2C go for Zhenghua or West View instead. Simply is no chance one.
- If you are not within 1km my advice is don’t apply for P2C too. P2B and within 1km virtually guarantee of a place in school, they don’t have many PV. Not like BPSS where P2B 1km also ballot one. 1-2km I cant say for sure you can email the school to find out last year breakdown of p2b.

Just to highlight, BPPS was ballot within 2km under P2B last year (1st time in balloting under P2B)

Can anyone share how is the school bus service?
I am going to move to Bt Gombak area next yr but my child will still remain in Beacon.

She will be P3 next yr. So thought of school bus that can send her to Bt Gombak to attend student care. However the bus operator, Yvonne told me it will be $115 for 1 way (return) only. And additional $5 per trip if the child needs to stay back for ECA or enrichment.

She even said if the ECA that I choose does not have 10 kids taking school bus, then my child have to go back herself.

Very expensive right?? Can anyone share with me how much is your school bus charges? Thanks…

I stay in Bt Panjang itself (a walking distance of about 10 mins from the school) and we are charged $40 for a one way trip (PM only) with an additional $2 for thursdays. My children take choir as CCA and so they come back at 3:30 pm on Thursdays which is the CCA day. Like you were told, we were also told that since there are not enough students taking the bus after choir, we need to go to school to pick them up after CCA. My children are in P3 and am very seriously thinking of making them walk back after school next year.
