      Dear current HPPS parents,

Understand that the school (or at least from the official website) looks at a holistic education for the children but I would really like to hear firsthand from the parents..

I would like to find out more specifically on the following:
      1) Does your child enjoy going to school generally? I.e. do they find learning in this school joyous? Are the subjects taught creatively?
      2) Teaching staff - Are the current teachers generally caring, dedicated and passionate about teaching, even helping the weakest students? Do they \"connect\" with their students? Or are they just going through the mill, then expecting the parents to engage tutors to make up the shortfall?
Do you feel the principal's direction for the school is going right?
      3) Is the emphasis on moral/character/well rounded education strong? Is your child blossoming?
      4) Stress level - how is the homework level like? Do the children spend a lot of time on homework daily? How about holidays? Is the homework more creative type or mundane worksheets type?
      5) Parents network - Is there a strong parent-teacher-school network here? Are many parents participating? Are they also given some leeway to offer suggestions to improve stuff or design some holiday programs etc?
      6) Are there immersion, outdoor programs, or any extraordinary programs outside of the generic curriculum?
      7) What is a weak area of the school that you strongly feel can be improved?

Please feel free to PM me if you are not comfortable publishing your heartfelt or sensitive comments over the public domain. I'm looking for honest answers. Thanks!

Very much appreciate your help in assisting a fellow parent in making a school choice!
I like the questions you are asking. They are very insightful indeed. I hope u get some good answers. My DC is in another school but I am interested to know the answers as well. Could u pls PM me if anybody replies to u?

Hmm, still no replies from fellow parents.

Now left wondering if I should take this as a positive or negative for the school… oops.

Zac’s mum, am still waiting to hear from the parents. If I find anything, will condense the answers and share with you. Cheers.

I think if you ask the same questions on the other schools thread, you are going to get the same response. Some like Musang King, some like D24, I like Ang Hay. One man's meat is another man's poison.

My suggestion would be for the questions to be distilled further. If your post can be answered in 280 characters, that would be a good one 😉 If you are looking for a thesis, it would be TL; DR or TL; don't bother to reply.

Hi, my P1 boy is complaining that his shorts are too tight for him. Anyone wants his old shorts, please PM me. If I am not wrongly, his shorts are size 24. Thanks.

              can I have it?

tried to PM but the message is stuck in outbox - don't know why.

Outbox means the message is sent but not read. It's confusing, I know.

                Ok let me try.

Hi parents with kids in Henry Park Primary:
                - Are you happy that your child got into this school? Yes/No/Neutral
                - Why or why not?

                - Anyone with kids in the GEP in this school? Is it worth it to switch from another school to Henry Park for its P4-6 GEP program? Yes/No/Neutral
                - Why or why not?

Please PM me if you prefer.

DD graduated from Henry Park last year. She had a great 6 years with the school. Of course there were both ups and downs but overall, good. I feel the school is a good balance. Not too academically stressful but still provides good academic support. There are special programmes, some all get to benefit, some only selected students. Very caring and supportive teachers.

I am not sure what kind of info you are looking for. Perhaps a little more details as to what it is you want to know?

                    Thank u very much!

Specifically, I would like to know…I heard that the GEP program at HPPS is very good. As in, it is implemented much better than the other GEP schools. The official curriculum may be the same, but I dunno why people keep saying HPPS and SHPS in particular are “better” run.

Any clue if/why that’s true? Does it hinge on the teachers? Or principal? Or what?

Really good teachers, in my humble opinion.
