In that case, I suppose you may want to avoid having your maid to walk home with your ds during peak dismissal hours, as traffic can be quite bad (dangerous). I think either you can try learning bliss and get your maid to pick up your ds earlier, or you can ask your maid to cook, bring lunch to the canteen during dismissal time, wait for him to finish lunch, and then walk home \"leisurely\". Many students do that too! Thanks,MommyNG!
My ds is going P1 next yr. I'm not so worry abt his school work but more concern abt safety. My maid just indirectly caused DS to have a bad accident and really don't wish to have another one as walking bk home, it is not that safe though less than 1km. Else, my maid is rather good in terms of housework n character.

I need some advices badly. Pl help! :?
I've been thinking to put my ds under the learning bliss' care but after seeing his tiredness due to waking up early, I'm not sure if I should just let my maid to pick him up after school and have more rest time at home. Pls help! :?:
My take is that rest is good! The Kids need to rest to grow they need time out to think and play... That is provided you can get them to rest while you are at work and then work with you later.
On the other hand you might want to get all the homework done at learning bliss so that you can get them to bed earlier for the same amount of \"rest\" kids adapt quite well but there will be days when they need time off so you need to be alert.
Depends on the child and the support you have at home.

I am "lagi" hard to decide now. My poor child. Bringing lunch is truly brilliant and new idea to me. Thanks All!

having put two kids through the NYPS, I have to say that it is no. There is no more Chinese content than what is in the SEAB syllabusksi:
by and large most parents have no issue with the syllabus - it is not so much the NYPS syllabus, it is approved by SEAB, used by ALL schools in Singapore
I believe NYPS follows the MOE standard for SAP schools. However, NYPS may value-add by introducing more Chinese content as part of their cultural immersion.
in fact the environment of the SAP school should make any students more confident to face the Chinese syllabus
the syllabus is not more than what you get from any other non-sap primary schools
I do appreciate that there are families / children who really struggle with the language, but to blame it on the school per se is not logical and not right
In that case, some may view the Chinese environment as a booster and some may see it as a stress. -

Yes, I like to see this worked out in the Nanyang issue! If there are tips for us in Nanyang or going to Nanyang I would like to hear about it.
since the thread starter stated this is Nanyang issue, it should be parked under NYPS, so that more NYPS parents can share their view pointstankee:
I'm thinking of either
if Chinese in general

if specific to NYPS

Your question is probably a bit too general for anyone to offer any tips. Your child is P4 this year? Was she in NYPS from P1 to P3?Hi everyone
,
I am troubled that my girl cannot cope with the Nanyang Primary Chinese syllabus although she has tuition for every subject. She comes home tired and weary everyday and tells me how much she hates chinese. So can some kind soul please help me and give me some tips on how I can make her enjoy Chinese is a sense that she does not come to me to complain about it.
Thanks alot! :boogie:
You may want to go some of the threads under Languages to see what other parents do at home with their children. Quite a number of parents are buying interesting Chinese story books including cartoons for their children to read/watch. -
