Not necessary. Those who got into META is strictly based on the GEP Round 2 tests, that is, English and Math (standard + GA). Whereas those in HA are all-rounders (including Chinese and Science, compo, orals, etc.). Some of them may even do better than those in META program during PSLE...
I agree. There will be HA students who does better than META. That's why they should collectively be termed HA. -
For P1 next year, there are classes with 30, 31, 32 and 33 students. Why doesn’t the school allocate the students more evenly e.g all classes with 31 or 32 students?

hmsg:
There are 60 qualified for META for 2012 P4 class (selected by MOE). There will be 2 META classes of 30 each for 'expert class' time for EMS & SS.just888:
How many META classes are there?
Depends how many gets qualified for META (next 2 - 5%) based on GE selection. There are 3 META classes (I think) for this year's P4. -

What is MA and LA?Busymom:

If I am not wrong, I have been lead to believe that the following is a breakdown of the available
- GEP
- META
- HA (high ability)
- MA
- LA
Crème de la Crème will be the GEP
So would it be correct to say the students in META would be or should be of higher ability than those in HA? -

From what I heard from DD, there also seems more boys in the top 5 in her class. Am quite surprised, but I will see for myself tomorrow.
As what DD told me earlier, there were indeed 4 boys in her class in the top 5 and her class wasn't the only one. But there were also other classes with 4 girls in the top 5. Overall, I think it was quite even between the boys and girls.hamster:
Just a very generalised observation...do girls tend to do better in NYPS in lower primary? And boys catch up much later?
My DD P1 class Top 5, 3 are boys. -

Still the same this year, there were some students who received both the top 5 as well as model pupil award. Not necessarily one girl and one boy too. I think maybe up to the form teacher to decide...?hamster:
I don't think so, what I know there is a class have 2 model pupils are girls. If I not wrong, one of girl has the same score with one of the top 5 achiever award, but only can choose 5. So the one process all the qualities will go to model award. This was the what I heard.
Unless the criteria has changed this year, I recall that 1 or 2 years back, for a particular class, the same student got high achiever and model student. That same class also had 2 girls for model pupils.... -

Agreed! Very impressive! :celebrate:
Yup, he is indeed impressive. Top in every subject except SS. Heard from my dd that his total score is 468/500!BigDevil:
One P5 GEP boy really impressive.
At this morning's prize-giving ceremony, he got...
High Achiever award for his class,
P5 GEP Bilingual award,
P5 GEP Best in Mathematics
P5 GEP Best in Science
Potential high scorer in next year's PSLE? -
raisintan mentioned in another thread that http://www.kiasuparents.com/kiasu/forum/viewtopic.php?p=641278#p641278, even those who failed balloting.
Anyone heard about this?
Update: Ok, nvm. raisintan clarified that it happened last year. -
BigDevil:
There are 20 more P1 students across 13 classes = 410 pupilsraisintan mentioned in another thread that http://www.kiasuparents.com/kiasu/forum/viewtopic.php?p=641278#p641278, even those who failed balloting.
