      Hi NYPS Parents,

Hope you can help with some questions I have.

      1. Are there a lot of optional enrichment for P1? If yes, are there fixed days for such enrichments or it can be any day? I'm worried my boy might be keen in the enrichments but clash with his other activities. Need to start planning his schedule next year as we need to book early for the violin teacher.

      2. How long is recess? My Mr Slow Pokey Poke eats super slowly. Need to start training him to eat within time limit.

      THANKS!!! ๐Ÿ™‚

        1. Wed-Sat. Mostly on Wednesdays.
        2. Recess is 30minutes. My boy is a super slow eater at home (up to 1.5 hours to finish a meal) but surprisingly, he gobbles his food very quickly during recess and can still squeeze in time to play catching, go library.

Hi, you can consider buying a digital timer (about $3 to $4). Set the timing to finish the food at least within 20 mins, then as time passes by, move on to 15mins timing for him finish up food. The child will learn how much time is left on the timer and will eat fast. Remove distraction such as tv cartoon or toys during meal time.

Thanks!!! At least now I have better idea on how to schedule his classes. ๐Ÿ™‚

I already have A FEW digital timers from Daiso! LOL!
Now training him to finish within 30 min. It helps that childcare is also training them to finish within 30 min and told us to progress to finish within 20 min by Term 4.

Realised he can do it only when I'm standing beside him watching him eat. Else, he takes his own sweet time. I don't think I have the patience to spend 20 min watching him eat his dinner everyday!

My hubby says high chances, my boy will end up not eating and go and play. Or maybe just gobble some biscuits, then go and play.

Does the school have their own private parentsโ€™ network group? I remembered I read somewhere the groupโ€™s bonding is strong?

                  Hello parents

I would like to check at which level will they select students to be prefects?

                  Thanks!

Bulk from P4, and some from P5.

But they will be assessed throughout the year in P3/P4.

                      Thanks for the reply!

I know some schools will give the students a form or get the student to write recommendation letter then hand in to the teacher in charge and for those that are selected will go through a interview, not sure about Nanyang about their selection criteria?

I find it more fair in this way rather the form teachers select the students they like. What about students having bad record, do they have chance to excel to leadership role, prefect etc?

                        Dear NYPS Parents,

Do your kids go to tuition centre? I am very concern whether a tuition is a must even for NYPS students? Is it too stressful for the kids?

I am curious whether there are some kids withdraw and transfer to other school when they find they cannot cope with the stress?

                        thanks!
