Hi. I'm new to this whole primary school admissions. Would like some clarity please!

My husband is NYPS alumni. I'm not.
We're moving to a unit within 1km of NYPS and living there for the next 5 to 8 years.

I'm wondering what phase I should be applying under and what are my chances of getting my boy into NYPS?
If one of the parents is alumni, the child should get in at Phase 2A. If you are within 1km, then you should be quite safe, as last year, the balloting was for those outside of 2km.
Some classes at Nanyang Primary School will be put on home-based learning for the next two days after several cases of fever, cough and sore throat were detected over the past four days.

Pupils were also strongly encouraged to wear masks in school this week as a precautionary measure, principal Wong Li Peng told The Straits Times on Monday.

So far, none of the cases have been related to Covid-19, she said, adding that the school had since stopped physical morning assemblies and reduced group activities.
Hi All,

I am thinking of engaging the NYPS bus service for my child from next month onwards as my husband is unable to send him to school anymore. But I heard some very bad reviews regarding the bus operator and how they treat the children from my friend so I am having my reservations.I will like to get views from different sources to confirm whether her comments are true. Can anyone who use the bus service in the West area provide feedback here?

Oops... I missed what you wrote about being an old boy.

Yes, for the last 2 years,
it has been balloting for those >2km, as @zac's_mum said.
For (old boys + old girls) under Phase 2A,
from ex Nanyang Primary school,
If your K2 kid is a SC living beyond 2 km,

there is no guarantee that,
kid can come back to NYPS, if balloted out unluckily.
So,
need to prepare a backup school for Phase 2B or 2C, just in case.

So moving forward, old boys under 1.5Km will be safe right? I am just planning head.

Now 1.5Km but I may move out in the future. My parent is staying at 1.5Km still. Mum will take care of the child. Ok?

But alumni priority is tied up with the parent’s address, not the grandparent’s address…

?? You mean if you are alumni you can't let your parents look after your kid? I think you still can bid in Phase 2A but must use the grandparents' address to register, which will automatically be at 1-2km, anyway, even if the address is right at the school's doorstep.

Correct.

Read caregivers address and statutory declaration.

For Nanyang PS, if child is boy there is no affiliation to secondary school after PSLE.
If for GIrls, the affliliation cut off point is limited? Any one can provide any insight?

Parents, do you have any thoughts?
