Pass years papers on math olympiad :

      1. NUSH is for Pri 5 only -NMOS. Their past year papers are available from their book shop but sell out very fast. Call before you go down

      2. SMOPS by Hwa Chong for Pri 6 - by far the most well known math olympiad. They used to have past years exams paper, both Round 1 and Asia Pacific Round, published once every two years but they have confirmed ceased publishing them due to copyright abuse. Probably any old stock from their bookshop got mopped up already.

      3. RIPWMC for Pri 6 - RI's math olympiad in conjunction with Heymath! Question style quite different from SMOPS. Doing well in SMOPS does not necessarily do well in RIPWMC, and vice versa. I seen some of the top guys for RIPWMC only around the middle of SMOPS platinum ranking only. No past year papers as testing is done on computer.

Don't fret if the past years papers are hard to come by : the various training centres have some of the questions as part of their teaching aid/materials

      4. AMC 8 for Pri 5 - past year papers from Math Hub

      5. Po Leung Kuk (HK) World Math competition - only the trainer provides some past year papers. Some US universities upload them on their websites. Google for it. This is selection done by HCI & RI. Singapore is the only nation where two teams are allowed.

      Hi verykiasu2010
what about GAUSS (Grade 7 & 😎 ? Is this recgonise for DSA ? Any sharing would appreciate..

Usually for Subject like English is quite difficult to revise the chapters unlike Maths or Science. During the parent teacher meeting held last month the form teacher told us English is like test everything under the sun.

        Agreed.

I am only revising answering OE compreh and going through the rules on synthesis & transformation.

Not sure what it stands for. however it’s contests organised by University of Waterloo Canada. If any parent knows the value of this in terms DSA applications, that will be wonderful.

GAUSS is another math competition. not so hot in singapore. any additonal cert from any math competition helps in DSA ....BUT for RI, rest assured that they are looking for EXCEPTIONAL math talent, not just highly-ranked math olympian. If you get HCI's SMOPS Platinum award, HCI will most likely take you in without much effort. There are only about 60+ platinum holders from SMOPS

some possible explanations for seemingly lesser performance by GEPpers at PSLE :

                  1. After securing DSA offer, slack liao, and hence did not push too hard to max out the scores. Or those who 'hot-housed' to get into GEP but come to P6...'punctured' liao....lost stamina

                  2. Under GEP, they are trained differently in more advanced understanding of the subject, hence may not have answered the PSLE questions in the manner SEAB expected it in the marking scheme, hence lost marks. The GEP training is very suited for sec school. In Sec one class, the teachers told the mainstreamers that GEP kids may have lower PSLE score but they would be understanding the subject at a faster pace. Hence the mainstreamers got coaching from the teachers to even out the pace of learning (these are the higher scorer mainstreamers). I think this is one key reason why sometime GEPper score lesser than mainstreamers. They probably only start learning PSLE style of questions after the P6 SA 1 (which is critical for DSA).

                  3. Mainstreamers who are able and wish to prove their worth work hard to max the PSLE score....not surprising especially for those who just missed being selected for GEP by the skin of their teeth....the teachers were told who are those just missed GEP selection .....
                  漏网之鱼.

One more possibility and I think this is a very valid one.

GEP only tests for eng & maths competency. I bet there are GEPers who are handicapped by chinese language.

just talking with a GEP mama... the GEP teacher mentioned to them, once their children attend GEP class, they no need take any extra supplementary tutoring. my friend said, \"我们就把孩子直接交给政府了.\" 😉

One of our pupa has emerged into a butterfly. Unable to take a close photo shot. Its wings are dark blue, very pretty. Very still now. I hv let it out and place the plant that comes with it close by. Hopefully it survives in the outside world 🙏

                    That's so cool. 😎

i think the question is whether 你放心把孩子直接交给政府吗?
