      P1 parents,

I saw my P1 ds wrote in his notebook \"show & tell\" in chinese (cannot remember the exact words used). Are they doing it in CL this year? Or both languages?
      :?

Btw, what's this thing called STAR? DS told me yesterday that he was picked to do some STAR stuff but declined. Got marks or not. If got, then I'll have to do some bribing.

Sorry it's not STAR (what's STAR anyway?) It's Show and Tell during assembly whatever that is. Anyway ds not interested.

I believe it's the programme \"I am a STAR\" organised by the EL department for P1s and P2s. They would fill up an application form and the teachers will schedule them. During my dd's time, they were supposed to present a story-telling item or a show-and-tell during recess. It's good to build up their confidence and prepares them for oral Show-and-tell in P2.

Many of my dd's classmates participated in this for the past two years. She did too.

You have good memory E3 .. you actually remember them :!:
          I don't even recall .... :rotflmao:

Is it part of the weekly 'tests'? it's for this week and next I think, in the slip of paper pasted in the communication book. They are supposed to describe their bag/pencil case/stationary... it's for chinese, and the teacher gave examples of questions parents can ask to help them formulate their show and tell. Supposed to speak about 5 - 8 sentences I think, can't remember exact words, must check the book again.

                E3:

You can let him choose a short story or his favourite story. Memorise it and practice at home. Encourage him. It's a good opportunity for him to build up his skills cos he won't be the ONLY one presenting. He can also see how his classmates do it. Usually, if his friends are doing the same thing too, it's not so intimidating.

Last year, there was a \"Pei Hwa Got Talent\" show. Your ds can play the piano then. He can be in the limelight! They need to go thru audition though. My dd didn't participate in this cos we think she has enough of it with her piano teacher's concerts.

It's ok even if it's not done desirably, the whole idea is to overcome his fear. Since P1 does not have exams, just make use of all these events to spice up his P1 life...hehe...
Totally agree! Sch life should also be vibrant and colourful. Ok I'll go back and try to prod ds to the 'desired' direction. πŸ˜‰

For Int-8, there's this CL 'show & tell' above and another EL one regarding reciting a poem with actions.

From what I understand (maybe I am behind time), the Show & Tell for P1 Chinese is new right ? I have to know how to explain and teach daughter how to present it. Topic used in her school is β€˜Favourite Fruit’.
