Anna, baby2momma,
Why DLS ? One of the best around CCK and Yew Tee area ? Must be quite tough for kids and also heard that lots of homework ! True ? -
not too sure if DLS has lotsa homework or not but
i only know the balloting was a really stressful
situation if we were there....i think only Anna could
comment since both you & I sent our hubby there
to witness!!! hahaha.....
is there a need to but extra sports shoes just for PE??
mvelle09, no problem..... KSP is indeed the right
website to ask all our 'cyber' related issues with kids
esp with buds & a few of the experienced mommies
to guide us mommies of new school going kids....

Hi all

checked with my friends with kids in DLS...more project work then HW for this yrs P1...not too sure abt next year .
No need for sports shoes for PE as with most mission schools 'Branded' shoes are a \"No,No!\"
PE twice a week but 1 friends child had 3X a week
(my daughter too in P1)
Also...just a note- Have been told that the school dentist LOVES extracting wobbly milk teeth!! I dont know about you guys but I'm against extraction as it puts fear of the dentist in kids<unless> so I made a note on my dental form. I did it for my daughter too .

-
hey milkomome,
many thanks for the info!!!
i can imagine if there are more project work,
it would mean more of parents involvement
with the child.....
oh gosh! my kid's wobbly front tooth will
be the dentist's first attraction!!!
-
You mean parents involvement are required in their project work ?
-
Yes, unfortunately I understand from friends
whose kids are in primary schools, the parents
are generally the ones leading the kids in their
home/school/project work....the teachers know
that most parents would assist the kids in their
work so they normally give pretty \"difficult\"
project work for the kid to complete..... :?:
There are juz plenty of parent-child involvment
in the kids school life now - unlike our generation
where we were left to do studies on our own....
That's why nowadays, it seems like we parents
are the ones studying.....
-
ha ha! this is why this \"forum\" comes in with other mean, allow parent to share their experience or in other word, copy here and copy there.

mvelle09:
Buds, r u so resourceful, better than information counter @ shopping mall. Thanks.
You're kidding, right?
Comparing buds to counter
girl at shopping malls?

baby2momma:
not too sure if DLS has lotsa homework or not.....
From one of my student's parent's review,
she says DLS adopts the Teach Less, Learn
More styled curriculum. But she claims this
style has made her child learn less.
Her child attended PCF kindy and totally was
unprepared to face P1. So with the Learn Less..
when it came down to paper testing, it reflected
that her child was doing really really bad. -
baby2momma:
is there a need to but extra sports shoes just for PE??
It is not a need..
More like a \"want\" for me, at least.
I was very into sports just like my dad..
He bought me plain coloured sports shoes
for my daily school shoes so i could enjoy
PE and all the sports activities in school. I
headed the netball team & also participated
in all ball competitions including football &
basketball.
That's how i got a nick : ball-sy gerl. Ahak!
The comfort level of wearing sports shoes
as compared to normal school shoes vary
quite a bit. So i'm just replicating my dad's
vision for comfort.
baby2momma:
I think it's actually real human issues but discussedKSP is indeed the right
website to ask all our 'cyber' related issues with kids
esp with buds & a few of the experienced mommies
to guide us mommies of new school going kids....
with cyber pals! And yes, buds shares whatever
good stuff that she has..
:celebrate:
