Orientation went well. I was actually expecting more, like a q&a session would be good. So many questions in my head…


My girl will be in 1E. Anyone with kids in the same class?

I have a P4 and P1 kids currently studying in KPS. As usaul couldn’t get in DLS, even though it is the nearest to home.

The experiences in DLS and YT wasn’t very good, their staff attitudes were really "bo chap", guess they think they are highly sought after. KPS left me a very good impression when I went there for 2c phrase. The teachers were very friendly and helpful.
Anyway, KPS has good programme. They ‘stream’ their pupil every year base on their academic performance. This allow the kids to learn at their own pace and capability. Personally, I felt more "pressure" after KPS change principal this year, even my P1 gal had to attend supplementary class twice a week, that didn’t happen to my P4 son when he was in P1 under the old principal.
My kids love and very loyal to their school.
Every school has bullies, as a parent we just have to teach our kids to voice out and seek help.

My son’s in Class 1B next year. Went for the Orientation, quite impressed by the VP’s continuous emphasis on Every Student is Unique and Deserves the Best! Indeed, I think all of us parents believe that our respective children are unique and deserve the best! Hope to see them putting this belief into practice …

i went at a later time, so missed the VP’s speech. However, had a small talk with the P when I went for reg’n during 2CS. She seems pretty good. and think she’s placing more emphasis on academic, if the prev P is more on sports.

ya, ya, I was also expecting more Q&A instead of looking at slides!
also, I thot they would bring the kids on a tour of the school, but instead was told by my gal that they were doing some worksheets in the classroom and nothing else.

think this new principal is pretty good, and this puts me into dilema whether to switch to YTPS, BUT KPS is really far and inconvenient from my place and I hv another 2 younger kids.

The purpose of doing worksheet during P1 orientation is to test their English language standard, base on the results from the worksheet, the school will group them into different english classes, those who are good will learn more and will have more difficult spelling list, while the weaker will learn at their own pace and have simple spelling list. Also when the P1 kid in term 3, the school will also assess their term1 &2 mother tongue standard and group them into different MT classes. My son took higher Chinese in term 3 & 4 but dropped back to standard MT in P2.

KPS is like always "streaming" the students. My boy’s MT not so good, & by 3rd Term, he gotta change his MT class. Good in a sense they learn according to their pace. Most school don’t stream from P1-2 or 3. but here in KPS, even P2 they stream them. Wonder is this the new style of the new principal?

Newcomer, what about during your son’s time? They stream them?

huh? does that mean for a start, for maths and chinese they study in same class, then english period they change class?

then from T3, maths same clas, chinese n english change class?
oh, n i didn’t know KPS offers higher chinese…

wah… then the kids must rem which class to go to, and also, won’t they be wasting time changing classrooms??

My girl will be in Kranji next year. As no student care centers is willing to fetch the afternoon session, I'm planning to find a care-taker for her. Anyone interested please PM me. My girl is attending childcare, and as she is a only child, so I will prefer someone who has children too, ideally someone who child going Kranji Pri next year too.

Hi Everyone!

My son also will be joining KPS next yr . Didin't get into De LA Selle in phase 2C altho living a few blks away. Anyway, didin't have a good feeliing abt this sch.

I also heard the new principal is good! Think she was present at the registration day if i didn't recognise wrongly, introducing her sch to parents.

I asked the staff on the registration day abt when the sch will be in full day session. She said not so soon. P1 & 2 for next 2 yr will still remain as afternoon session. They no need renov & is waiting MOE to decode when they're converting. Also good for us, no need so rush in the morning.

Btw, they don't have SA. Their swimming class is compulsary becos it is within their class module unlike DLS is optional during off class hr.

Have you all receive the more details from the sch other than the orientationd day date (20 NOV)?
