Of course all schools expects more from top classes. But I don’t think they are necessarily given more materials. The better teachers are also allocated to the weaker classes to help them. Any school would want to pull up their general averages.
On the other hand, A* is more difficult and not suitable for all abilities. They can’t make every one buy. Not every one can appreciate the book, or the additional costs. Those who are keen can buy and do own their own too. -
I believe kids should b exposed to all these questions since there are still 8 mths b4 the national exam. I understand one of my girl’s friend from top class complained having so many homeworks. Since my girl does nt have much hw, I am revising it with her at home n have completed onsponge, utm… will go thru A* since just got it today. Guess now parents’ support n help is the most importance.

DD from top class but not too much homework. Still manageable. I dun think their materials are any diff from the other classes.
Her friend complained too much homework maybe bcos she has too many tuitions?
DD only has supp on Tues and bi-cep on Thurs.
How abt ur DD class? -
Her friend is in third class. I always fetch her home so will ask her diff btw my girl class n hers. I doubt she has tuitions. If I am not wrong, those students fr 3 classes are good in all 4 subjects. My girl is only strong in math n science. Her math result last year was the same as her friend. Her supp is on tues n thur also.

I think the "top" class is strong in languages, its a requirement for the BiCEP programme. They have to be "effectively bilingual". I have heard of top students not allocated to the "top" class cos their CL is not as strong. It’s because of BiCEP. The other 2 top classes are (I think) stronger in Maths and Science. My DD in top class too but not much homework. She usually seems to be able to complete in school. I guess it’s really up to the child.

Sweetiepie,
I believe your DD's friend is in the third class as in 6/3, which is the only class to have extra classes on Tues and Thurs. The kids in this class are very self-motivated. I know of a few who does many many assessments on their own.
Its wonderful you can finish Onsponge with your child. My DD is too lazy to do anything :frustrated: -
I covered p6 topics w bb during dec. Also I did onsponge book concurrent w unit trf method book n another 2 books so my girl understands these heuristic methods under diff authors are similar. B4 tat she was so confused how to use them. With tis, She is doing the raffles tough question books now. Hopefully tis strategy works for her! As a parent I really ‘pei fu’ kids nowadays, like a sponge… Everyday so full w activities.

By the way I do agree tat her friend is very self motivated, no tuition and her mother is fr china.

Kudos to those involved parents who run the 'race' with their child too. Both child n parents need to have good stamina and determination to complete the 'race' together. Guess this must be education in Singapore? -
Hi, do your kids in upper pri still able to get full mark in composition after P3? What is the highest that they achieve? Both EL and CL?
