Kong Hwa

I am 1-2km from Nan Chiau whereby I will fall under Phase 2C and chances seems very slim for getting it. My husband is an ex-student from Kong Hwa where I’m eligible under Phase 2A2.


In fact, I’m still considering if I should go for Kong Hwa due to the long travelling distance.

Btw, you stays in sengkang too and your child is in kong hwa?

wow! That’s so early… but there are kids doing this. Maybe he will get used to taking naps in the bus in the morns. Later when he’s older he can learn to take MRT. The station is really near to school.

Nan chiau is very very popular too. So very hard too.

Unless you or hubby become a PV or join Hokkien Huay Kuan, provided either of you are hokkien, to increase the chance of getting into Nan Chiau. Alternative is to move to somewhere not too far from Kong Hwa. You need to pick up your boy up if he stays back late in school for CCA or supplementary classes.

I think it is confirmed that KH will be single session starting 2013 from MOE website (See List 4 of the website below). Not sure the timing of the morning session

I’m staying in SengKang as well. I’ve registered my son under Phase2A2.

Travelling time (by car) from Seng Kang to Kong Hwa is about 20mins.
By Mrt (Buangkok MRT) to Kong Hwa (Dakorta), including walking, is less than 40mins.

It seem that taking MRT is 40 mins whereas taking school bus pick up time is 5.40am. The kid does not have to get up so early if travel by car or MRT comparing to school bus.

Mummy so kiasu : I’ve applied for PV but was unsuccessful. As for the clan association, don’t think I’ve sufficient time to get e letter eligible for phase 2b. Other parents has suggested to ask for transfer to nan chiau at least after 2 yrs at kong hwa.


SharonL : I’m staying near buangkok mrt and still considering if to take public transport or school bus. Last option will be getting a car but COE is so ex now. Seems like 56 applicants have registered under phase 2A2, is it all will be guaranteed a place?

Are you registering this year or next? For 2A2, if demand is lesser than supply, i was told you will get the seat.

Not just KH, if you ask around, many parents are sending their kids to far away school.

I know of a fren who stays in Pasir Ris and her gal is in Nanyang. So you are not alone

Under 2A, all should be confirmed in. That's for ex-students and staff. Its the left over places that will be given half to 2B. That's clan and PV.
