Hi,
I would like to check if anyone use the student care services in Hougang CC?
Also, is there any CCA for children in P1 and P2? Or kids need to go to school early for P1 & P2?
Is it P3 is already in morning session?
Finally question, I heard that there is many show&tell session for P1, how do parents help your kid to do that? How long is the sessions and how frequent?
Cheers!!! -
can i know how is this school and wat cca do they have

Hi, my DD is also in P1 here. So far, she seems to be enjoying it there. The school seems to have a very good system going, in creating independent and disciplined students. No CCAs in P1, so can’t tell.

Hi TenTen,
How do you cope with your DD show and tell? How frequent and I heard parent has to draft out then kid will present to the class?
Are they using the stellar system?
Is their weekly spelling still only hanyupinyin or includes chinese character too?
Do they still got test for term 1 and mid-year exam? -

Yes, we roughly draft out her show and tells, based on her inputs on the topic. The dateline is given, so she'll practice every now and then. So far, this is the 2nd term, and 2nd show n tell, so I think it's 1 per term?
Yes, by Stellar, u mean no textbook? They get exercises in school to complete. Thankfully, they don't have that much homework as most is completed in school. This is also perhaps they don't want the kids to get
'help' in order to gauge their progress?
They've moved on to Chinese characters from hypy already.
They do not have exams, but diagnostic tests, which is these few weeks. However, they will not use the results to 'stream' them, as they will still be in the same class next year.
I must say my DD's Chinese has definitely improved, as she used to shy away from it, coming from an Eng-speaking background! She now happily sings Ch songs by herself, and is more daring in conversing in Mandarin! Having dedicated teachers definitely helped her get over her insecurities.
Hope this helps? -
Hi Parents,
I intend to be the PV for my DD in this school. I’ve called the school and wish to know more about the PV programme but they said it’s too early now for my DD who is going to P1 in 2014. The asked mw to call back in Jan 2012.
Did anyone of you here has the experience of being the PV before? Will they take any parent who is interested or they will choose thru interview. What is the activities or events that their PV programme like?
I am full time working mum, is it possible for me to complete the 40 hrs PV in the weekends only[/color]? -
HIPS vs PLMGS… …which one should i choose? Any advise?

Yes. I have done PV 6 years ago. During that time, they chose thru interview. Both the husband and wife can help out to clock in the 40 hrs, hence to me is not difficult. I tried to choose those Job that need to take up at least more that 4 hrs in order not to waste my precious leave. Mostly, the PV chairman will email to all PV of their on coming event that required help out and they will take the PV that replied to them on a first come first serve basis. Hope it help.Hi Parents,

what kind of PV work is the school in need of ?
-
how are the teachers ? are they hardworking ?
do the teachers teach, or do they outsource to parents to send kids for enrichment lessons, assuming that parents will teach their kids at home, under this so called ‘TLLM’ concept (ie. Teach Less, learn more) ?
