      need some frank feedback…

      Which school to choose?

      NYPS, Bec parent’s alumni

      or

Rulang - Bec next to home, but parent have to do PV.

my son's cousin in Rulang trying to transfer to NYPS

Rulang = MINDLESS drilling for top class, killing enthusiasm of the child

just personal experience / experience of close ones

don't waste your alumni privilege, many would love to be in your shoe

it also depend how you partner the school in your child's education

my son's cousin was very happy till the mindless drilling because the child is in the top class....so much homework until very sian liao

my son in NYPS, not much work to him, always complete in class / in school except lately but still complete before dinner time....so he took up many CCAs and enjoy his school every bit of it

              Hi pjlee25,

My gal will also be in P1 there next year. 😉

After school (PM), parents have to go pickup the children directly from school. I'm still deciding on whether to let my DD shower at the BASC. I figured that if she does then I'll talk to the BASC that she be allowed to leave her wet towel and clothes there. I'll go pick it up in the evenings after fetching her from school.. not sure if they will object..
Hi! Good to know someone whom is in the same situation. 😉

:!: oh dear... now you're getting me really worried.. 😞

Please elaborate on the MINDLESS drilling..

May I know which level is the cousin in? Can u please share more details as in how much really is the homework - every subject? many pages? etc etc...

                TIA

                    Hi there

My ds is in p1 this yr. Maybe it’s just P1, but I find the Sch offers a lot of activities lei (compared to my dd Sch). So far he had pottery lessons last term, calligraphy this term. And he takes up robotics n Chinese orchestra as enrichment activities. He has lots of fun in Sch. The Sch conducts other non academic program like entreprenuership, computer lessons, project work
I must admit that the Sch does give quite a fair bit of hmwk but so far, it’s still manageable. Actually I am glad that the Sch gives hmwk cos it helps to build gd study habits n attitudes rgt frm the start.
My observation is that top schs don’t give much hmwk cos most kids r alr burdened wif tuitions work . Rulang is still very much a heartland Sch, so Sch will give more work as not many can afford to go tuitions

vk2010 said only the top class is stretched. So the soln is to make sure that your kid doesn't qualify for the top class, then no need to fret 😉
