[Rulang = MINDLESS drilling for top class, killing enthusiasm of the child

just personal experience / experience of close ones

      Hi vk2010,

:!: oh dear... now you're getting me really worried.. 😞

Please elaborate on the MINDLESS drilling..

May I know which level is the cousin in? Can u please share more details as in how much really is the homework - every subject? many pages? etc etc...

      TIA

vk2010 said only the top class is stretched. So the soln is to make sure that your kid doesn't qualify for the top class, then no need to fret πŸ˜‰

            drilling started in P4

also someone's kid was in top class in recent year from there. the parent asked the school whether any need of tuition for the kid. the school replied : can he ever finished the work from school?

conclusion : the school knows that they are piling them with drilling work.....that boy got 26+ for t-score but every nite homework till midnite still cannot finish

my view is that mindless drilling is just rote learning that the school is doing to ensure they meet their own kpi on how many kids above what t-score.

that is just my personal opinion based on people I encountered with.

I would say depend on the FT. I do heard of parent requesting the child to stay in 2nd class even though eligible for the 1st class. The result is comparable good. More drilling (24/7 kind) in the 1st class is true.[/quote]actually i WAS very blurr about this top class, second class etc until visiting this ksp website....eventhough my two kids are out / on the way of the PSLE system. (because in the school that my kids went to, they don't tell you anything about ranking of class or student's position in class or in cohort; but of course they do ranking - some more very tight bandwith type)
