As far as I know, MOE has asked all primary school to do away exams for P1 and P2 since last year. So, P1 should not have any \"exam\" per se. But i think there may be some bite size assessment for the kids so as to make sure that they do take in what they are taught.
As for 1st day of school, parents cannot go in cos the school is considered small (if you compared to other primary schools) so the schools are unable to let the parents stay with the kids inside school. But rest assured that there are enough parent volunteers around to help the kids out. The school would also assign a P5 gor gor/jie jie to be a buddy for all P1 kids so that someone can show them the rope during recess time when they learn to buy food from the canteen.
Don't worry too much. The kids are fast learners and they are more resilient than we know
Once they step into the P1 stage, you will find them growing up in lightening speed.

i stayed for a while before leaving for work.
after school, the school bus driver fetch him home.
you do not have to worry much, the school already have a \"system\" to take care of the P1. you may hang ard the school if you are still worried. -
porkypig, I remembered the school bus came to fetch my boy to school and I was not there. If you are worried, you can pack something for her to eat for her recess, just in case. The P5 boys and girls will guide the P1 during recess plus there is parents volunteer. You are not allowed to go near the canteen. They will chase you away. Even now, sometimes when I was at the canteen with my boy after school, they will also ask you to leave.

thanks cholecube & pingathot!
i guessed i will just try & ‘see’ my girl as much
as i could than come back & pick her later!
i supposed your kids are much older, do they have
alot of homework? -
Ha ha for my boy’s case, I’m indeed agonized by the fact that he doesn’t have many homework to do. He said it’s because he finished them off in class.

Hi 3bagsfull, what standard is yr boy now? Mine, P4 seems to hv quite a bit. Its like not enough time. I dont knw why. How I wish theres not much to do. I do checked with one parent when in school and she has the same as my son. Mayb from P4 onwards theres quite a bit to do. She said sometimes her son has to wake up at 4-5am to do homework! I was shocked!

Hi pingathot
Mine is in p2 now. I was told p1-2 still quite relax. The big jump wld come in p3. I hv a colleague whose son is in p4 now but she told me her son also doesn’t really hv lotsa homework. I guess it’s dependent on who the teacher is.
