      Hi porkypig

CCA is another way to get into Direct Admission Sec Sch besides the usual good results if you want to get into top sec sch. I understand these top sec sch now they have direct to JC. No ‘O’ level. That means 6 years in the sec sch, then take ‘A’ level. Besides, if you have good portfolio of CCA, that can help you to get into the desired sec school that you have been eyeing before PSLE results are out. Of course they will have to see your P5 and P6 results and your CCA. Also, you have to go for interview. If you are applying using CCA, they’ll test your CCA too. Be it a sport or performing arts. Good CCA means you have to participate competitions and have good results too. Some sec sch wants the niche, so you have to check which sec sch has what cca and their strength. If you have the same cca and is outstanding, and also that sec sch you are eyeing, then you can apply and wait for their reply.

          Hi porkypig

Well, I think so too. But if you are not kiasu, then just let the child chooses what they think fit. Of course, if you have a outstanding CCA and good results, why not give it a try bcos you are guarantee a place before everyone. When the PSLE results out, you have to fight among all who wishes to go to the same sec sch. That’s why now parents are so kiasu. Piano, art, gym, dancing, violin etc, you name it. Those do not have CCA, they must have good marks in order to get into top sec sch. Sigh…

            I totally agree Pingathot!

seems that even if I try to be as laid back as posdible…
seeing alot of parents ‘grooming’ their child gives me
indirect pressure and subconsciously i will start to questions
what are the best routes for my kids!!!
sigh…things were so much simpler years ago…

Hi just wondering when the school will notify us about the buying of books and uniforms etc for P1?

The P1 orientation is on 30 Dec 2011 so it will be too late by then to get the school supplies?

                Hi Musing,

I bought the uniform 2 weeks ago. You can ring the
lady, her contact is on the school's website.
As for books, the school told me they will send out
the book list in October. Date TBC.
