Is the sch going to change principal soon?

I thought there is a term for principal…
I dislike the long hours of this sch… They didn’t do much in sch work.
The longhours plus super long lunch break of 40min succeeded in tiring out my kid.
The sch relies heavily on parent volunteers to look after the pupils during both recesses. There are times u can’t even see one volunteer at the sports hall where accidents and fights occur. When children feedback the bad rude behaviour, teacher will say " never mind"… Unless parents complained, then teachers will get that child to apologized. Children can be left in the class without a teacher for a whole subject period bcos that teacher is busy at other place…
I am seriously considering to withdraw…
I like to say maybe not all teachers are like this… But my kid’s teachers are, except for Chinese teacher…

My child is in this school, level 4. So far in the years he’s in this school, the teacher seldom leave them alone. Probably, only like 2 times a year ? Prior to that, she’ll tell the class and gave them work to do.

Does yr child’s teacher did this often ? If it is then it might be a big concern. In which level is yr child in ?

Only one China girl got 262 last year. The rest of the students did not do well at all.

The past 2 years PSLE result is not appealing.

                    Hi sushigal

May I know where u get the info from. I’d like to do some investigations on my own. Whether I could leave my son’s PSLE preparation to the school. ( read : whether i could trust the school to prepare them adequately).

                    Thanks.

I read from somewhere in this thread that the school’s last 2 years PSLE students were transferred from other schools. Thus, the PSLE students do not have a full 6 years primary education in North Vista. For this reason, I’d be able to give some "leeway" on gauging the school’s learning vision.

This would have easily meant that 2013 PSLE students are the first cohort of their very own primary school students who had gone thru 6 yrs of thorough education with North Vista.

Thus, lets wait and see the PSLE results of the 2013 cohort.

I believe that this year’s would be better and true gauge of the school’s strength and vision for its students. Whether more engaging activities helps, and whether the school is adopting the righting teaching pedagogy to the students, inclusive of the teachers engagements with the students. And whether the principal’s stand of his vision is strong to weather the onslaught of PSLE.

So, I guess we as parents would be better able to estimate how much outside help our children may need in preparation for our child’s PSLE then.

                        hi Alicia611

I’m happy w the school but not satisfied.

Timing is great with 2 breaks, one in morning the other for lunch. School starts 8 am, ends 2.45 pm

They have uniform groups which what pleases me the most. Scouts and Boys Brigade. However, their "niche" CCA are non-academics, such as soft ball and hockey and dance stuff. Thus if yr child is not the sporty type he will not be able to get the most out of their CCA strength. On hindsight, if you intend to nurture yr child in which he’s strong in, do think twice about this school as they’re biased towards their own CCA.

It is not easy to start a new CCA group within this school. A LOTISA of factors are put into considerations.

I do like their English syllabus for P3 and above. They’re using English Literature which in turn improves their literary skills and their comprehension skills.

Most teachers are young and passionate about their work.

The school will require yr child to buy laptop during their 2nd year, be prepared for this.

However, I noticed this school likes to put "trial" teachers into my child’s class during every terms, and changing all their subject teachers in the middle of the year ! Which is what I detest the most !

The principal ? I recommend you read the past few threads. I have yet to see what kinda person he turns out to be.

                        TIA
