      Hi

Can anyone share which science text books is the school using currently ?
The school at the moment, is using My Pals are Here Science (2nd edition), at least for lower block. DD just finishing P4 this year. My guess is that upper block is also using the same series (more logical). So if that is the case, the P5 students in 2014, like DD, will likely also be continuing with My Pals are Here Science (2nd edition) Upper Block.

For P3 next year, for sure it's not the same book as used this year, cos the syllabus is changing to new one next year.

        J's mom:
        Hi,

My boy is going to start P1 (class 1a) at YangZheng in 2014. Mixture of excitement and anxiety.
Still hunting around for good studentcare centres to place him, prefer a homely environment with good mix of academic and non academic activities vs. tuition centre setup. Such centers are hard to come by and really limited choices in serangoon area. School bus vendor also only plys within 1-2 km of the school... Does anyone have any recommendations to share?
welcome... time flies and DD is already going to P5 next year...
good luck with finding the right student care centre. I know there are a few nearby but have never needed them so can't advise - sorry.

Blk 107 Serangoon North Ave 1 has student care that opens till as late as 9pm. You may like to check that out. The school bus can fetch the child to that area and this student care caters to parents who work late.

There is the famous western food stall in this blk. Nice food too. Went there for dinner gathering once and saw the student area centre.

Thanks for the well wishes, visited most of the centers around yangzheng, mostly very academic or big student - teacher ratio. Whilst I prefer if they offer some interesting enrichments to balance out their time. going to take a look at the newly opened one at serangoon gardens this week, otherwise will opt for archers at serangoon central. Anyone has any experience with archers to share?

Could only take leave on weds to get the uniform, seeing the comments posted above , mentally prepared for disappointment, long wait and chaos.
FYI, checked with the Shirley season wear uniform supplier before she said they stopped supplying for yangzheng 2-3 yrs back, just that the school did not update their list posted on the web. ??

How about the school books side, read the books will be given out by teachers when sch starts … I wonder if they are allowed to keep the books in school bringing back only what they need or we have to lug all home on day 1?

Hi J’s mom: I like Archer’s. The owner used to work at Cambridge Child Development Centre at AMK Ave 1 when I put my boy there very long ago. She was one of the more popular and lively teachers there. She started the student care later on, and I believe it should have been more than 6 years already. Met her fetching her P1 charges under Archer’s care personally at Yangzheng some time ago. Besides this, she sees to additional enrichment and academic exercises for the children at the centre too. I would believe it’ll be a sound choice.

J’s mom: has the school organised the P1 orientation already? I remember there used to be a list of items to be brought in succession each day of the first week. No, don’t have to lug everything on the first day. P1’s get it really quite good at YZ - very good guidance. At least my DD’s P1 form teacher (Mrs Yeo Kim Eng) was very organised - caring and nurturing, not to say the least.

Heard they had a change in owners about 1-2 years ago, if I am not wrong the centre is currently run by the teacher running the Chinese tuition program \"郭老师\", so far have only met with the centre manager , a lady called : Magdalene (if I remember correctly).

That's good to hear, P1 orientation for 2014 cohort is this Friday 8th Nov, probably they'll give out more information then. Hope DS gets a good form teacher 🙂

Hi, mummies n daddies with higher primary kids,

Like to find out for p3 students taking higher Chinese, are the students required to stay back after school to attend the lessons ? If so, how many times a week ?
How did the school allocate the students to the Pri 3 classes ? Is 3A the best class or randomly distributed . My girl told me the 3rd position boy is allocated to 3B while the another girl whose result not better than the boy go to 3A 🤷
