Hi all, I'm thinking of forming a small group Chinese tuition for my boy who will be in P1 next year. I'm located at Tampines St 71. Please PM me with email address if interested to join. Thanks!

Good to concentrate on word recognition from the textbooks n sentence structure, from my experience this year.

@ Gabby: thanks for sharing. May I know how does the school test on the Yun Yu component? Is there show and tell in Mandarin?

        Many thanks!

Hm… My son is quite blur, so don’t know how much he said is credible. As far as I know, no show and tell… Several show n tell assignments in Enlish though. My son needs to tell a story in mandarin from time to time. No weightage though. I think it’s meant to encourage pupils to speak. Many word recognition tests for Chinese. One every week, the standard is high compared to the P1 textbook. Revise diligently.

What is an acceptable mark for a P1? Should be relaxing since the exams are over. Instead got more stressed.

            Hi Gabby

If I were you, I will not be stressed. Think about it how lucky it is that we are able to tell from P1 paper where our child is lacking and needs improving. Time is on your side.

You need to identify whether those points lost are careless mistakes or simply lack of practice (like spelling) or understanding... then work on it. 88 is already band 1 if I am not wrong (85 and above is band 1, right?)

            Just my two cents.
            Cheers!

Me just bought DS P2 books today, cannot imagine the cycle to repeat again in Jan 2012. But after P1, we should know what to improve for their weak area.

But a good experience indeed. I hope DS will not be careless and be more careful in his upcoming p2 work.

                        dear parents, kindly advise,

                        1) is it normal not to have time table in the 1st week?
                        2) is your P1 child assign a P2 ‘buddy’ to familiarize the school/bring him/her to canteen during recess?
                        3) how much is your child given for recess snack/lunch?

                        thanks.
