It is very comforting to see this post. My son just enters P1 this year at Cedar Primary, hope he will enjoy.

My kid also in Cedar. Compared to other schools, the intake in past few years have been small, about 100 - 120 students per year because of the low population density in the school's vicinity. I would say this school has a small town atmosphere and each class size is 30, which is small compared to the popular schools. This means the teachers have more time to observe each kid and identify problems early, which is good. Being next to Sennett Estate and Cedar Girls also means the surroundings has fewer undesirable temptations and influences.

The downside of being small is that there will be fewer top students by virtue of numbers. In big schools with say 400 students per cohort, top 10% of cohort is 40 students, which is more than enough to form a class. However in Cedar, top 10% is exactly 10 students, cannot even form a class. Depends on your view, this can be positive because the top students will have more opportunities to interact with friends of wider range of academic capabilities and hopefully help develop better EQ. I understand that last few years' PSLE performance is slightly above singapore's average, so I am not worried about teachers' ability to manage a broader range of academic capabilities in each class.

Going forward, merger with Macpherson Primary is happening next year and the new HDB town will significantly increase the school size in coming years. The small town feel will be missed by some, though this will certainly mean a new chapter for the school. I hope the school will retain the smaller class size if MOE allows.

By then, Cedar primary will be popular.
Maris Stella primary will also be very popular.

looking at the previous posts written by the ex-students could give you some indication on the school. but one thing for sure, their infrastructure are newer and better to cater the emerging Bidadari estate student population.

                      Hello,

Anyone knows what is the reporting time for P1 students on first day of school (ie 2 Jan 2019)?

I’ve missed the orientation too. Any important info to share from the orientation?

                      Thanks.

Will be great to get some feedback / info -

                        1) Is there any open house for Cedar Primary for 2019 P1 registration exercise?
                        2) Any general feedback on the school for newbie parents in 2km circle for school?

                        Thanks a lot in advance.
