24hr-mum:
any improvement in the catered food?
Not really. They gave 2 slices of oranges for fruits and no drinks.
Still waiting for their revised menu. Most likely will stop catering food cos the rice portion they give is a bit too much for my son. He always throw away so quite wasteful. -
can ask him give some rice to his friends

IMHO, the food has improved. The kids already have water bottles so I feel there's no need to give more drinks. Two slices of orange is better than the processed snacks they were giving at the beginning of the year. I hope to see more veggies on the food, that's all...

reply from the school:
"With effect from 7 Feb (Mon), the improved menu was rolled out. Basically, the main items did not change.
However, we have removed the drinks and included substantial portions of fruits for everyday’s menu. Also, we have communicated with Nonya Manis to make sure that the quality of food served (in terms of portions and quantities of the ingredients) are met.
Currently we are still finalising the main menu for the 4 weeks, and are observing the quality of the food served for this week. We hope to release the improved menu by next week after all the feedback is collated for this week. We will publish the new menu in our school website then. "
They did made an effort to improve a bit. Previously, the hotdog bun was without any additional ingredients. This week, it had a slice of cucumber and tomatoes and mayo. Actually, I don’t mind if they give more varieties of sandwiches instead of rice. -
Kudos to Spies & Other Parents who raised the alarm of the quality of food provided by the caterer to the Principal's Office :thankyou:
Spies, many thanks for bringing up the matter directly to the school P & updating us on your correspondences with/from the school. Now that the Principal's Office is aware of this matter after other parents who raised it up during the P1 Parents' meet up with the school as well, I am sure they will be on pro-active to ensure that the quality of food provided by the caterer is of acceptable standard. I am sure the P's office is concerned about this aspect as well. Let's just give thanks for the improvement & hope that things work out well. -
Today’s food is Char Siew rice and one banana. The portion is kind of too much for kids. Many boys couldn’t finish and were thrown away, quite wasteful. May be they can include additional dish or salad, reduce the amount of rice.

I thot my boy is the only one who can't finish the rice. I don't mind varieties of buns/sandwiches instead cos my boy don't have the habit of having rice in the morning... thus always cannot finish. really wasteful.
Any mummies here are Parent Volunteers? Cos the school will be getting feedbacks from them regarding the 'new' menu. -
Anyone know what will be tested for next week’s P1 CL unit test? The CL teacher sent me a document of what will be tested. Unfortunately, the words (in HYPY) looks like gibberish to me. Not sure if it is something wrong with the source or my PC. But I tested in a few PCs, still looks the same. So I suspect it is the source. Cannot wait for the CL teacher to reply our email. If you know, please post it here. Thanks in advance.

I am so stressed up trying to revise with my son. There seems to be so much to be covered within such short time. Can't even spot questions! And I just discovered my son's comprehension for Maths is 0!
Here is it.
Following are the items which will be tested:-
(5 questions per section)
1) 看图选拼音: the students are to choose the correct hypy for each given picture.
2) 看图选句子: to choose the correct sentences for each given picture, the sentences will be given in hypy.
3) 填写音节: the students are to write down the hypy for each picture, including 声调 (4 sounds). Most boys may find this section challenging.
4) 连一连: given 5 chinese characters, the boys are to match the correct hypy to the chinese word.
The test will cover HYPY 1 to HYPY 6, i.e. pg 5-34 of the CL textbook. Other than textbook, you can also revise the following with your boy:
Tingxie list 听写表
HYPY small booklet (HYPY duben) 汉语拼音读本. -
Namie:
Thanks. I put my son through Abacus when he was 5. So he has no problem with Mathematics (in terms of addition and subtraction). In fact, his favourite subject is Math. We also concentrate a lot in CL but unfortunately it is still not enough because his CL is still CMI kind. We spend so much time on his CL that we somehow forget about his EL. We just discover that actually his EL is not good as well. So we are struggling as well. We hardly have time during weekdays to coach him as we are both working. Life of parents is not easy man....
