Good luck to all MSHS P3 kids who are taking GEP selection test tomorrow !

I saw another post which was exchanging ideas about what to give the teachers for Teachers’ Day.
My son told me that all his teachers said that doing well for their exams is the best present for the teachers. And specifically, please do not give them any gifts, including pens.
Anyone else whose child commented on this?
I am glad that the school does this because I always try to teach my kid that not every thing is measured by material things. -
All Civil Servants and Public Officers are not allowed to receive gifts or tokens or even accept free rides from contractors and clients. This is specified in our IM and made known to all of us the moment we join. If found out, we could be dismissed or subject to other disciplinary actions.
Since teachers are also Civil Servants, they too are not allowed to receive gifts from students / parents as this would make them vulnerable. -
My son’s form teacher also told them the same thing, she wants the kids to do well for their CA2 and that will be the best Teachers’ Day present.

My son came back from school after the celebrations that there were still people who gave gifts to the teachers. ( He did not as he is very 'obedient'). And the worst part, (he was rolling his eyes when he related this), the teacher had a box and told students to put the gifts into the box!

According to Monday chinese newspaper, teachers are allowed to accept small gifts on Teachers’ Day. I think things like cookies or sweets or stationary should not be a problem.
I do not think the teachers will mind or mad at students who did not give them gifts. There is nothing to worry about. -

I am sure the teachers will not mind. Just that it was a bit of a joke between my son and I because he was a little amused when he related it to me.

Can you imagine that there are parents giving LV bag to teachers in one school (the reporter did not mention the name of the school)? :stupid:
