Actually he does not mind doing work, but just want someone to sit by his side. He will do the work himself also. But, when it comes to reading, he totally hates it! I dunno why. I thought children would prefer to read storybooks than to do work?
Actually, whatever he does, he just want someone to sit beside him. But I dun have the time to keep doing that… :x -
same for my boy. if i m not around or not free to sit with him, he doesnt see a need to do work or read bks. unlike my girls i can leave them alone.
boys are so difficult. -
I think it is the type of books that he is not interested? Try the Diary of a Wimpy Kid series. They are quite popular with young cheeky boys.
Geronimo Stilton also very engaging with its coloured contents. -
Yup, DS only reads Geronimo Stilton. Tried to get him to read Charlotte’s Web and he said it was boring after 2 chapters. His attitude is better now when it comes to getting him to read. It was terrible in Jan and Feb coz it would be such a struggle to get him to read alone in his room. Then he started getting glued to Geronimo Stilton’s 2 thicker books - Kingdom of Fantasy and its sequel - and it became easier. Now, he would nicely go to his room when I get him a new book.
I have also changed my tactic with him. Whenever he refuses to do work, I would pretend to give up, go away and let him be. No more nagging. Funny thing is, he would then go to his room and do the work! These kids are weird. But he needs someone with him if we want him to revise for tests. That’s understandable. -
wat abt beast quest? is it gd to read? most active boys like that?
my boy also like that. only see pics, dont read the words. he is k2 but havent started reading books independently, tho he can read. sigh…unless u READ WITH HIM -
Wah!! *admire*
Cherrygal... you managed to get ds interested in the Geronimo Stilton books.
I bot 2 of the books in this series the last time they were selling in school - and now these 2 bookos are collecting dust!! Ds absolutely have no interest in it! :stupid:
Now its back to those spiderman story books (whatever i can find in kino) and there are not many of these books around....
Argh!! :slapshead: -
Yup, sigh, better than reading no books at all…
He tells me he reads the books in the classroom in the morning and at the student care he goes to. So I cross fingers that he is reading enough…
After reading what another mommy posted about reading, I decided not to make it a chore for him. Just let them enjoy the process and give lots of praise after he reads. -
Will MSHS Primary have an open house for parents interested in the school?
Or are open houses only for secondary schools. -
beanstalk:
I have seen banner on open house for the sec section when i sent my boy to sch but don't remember there's one for the primary section in the past years. Increasing, MSHS primary seems to be getting more popular, I really don't think they need to have an open house to attract applications. Will MSHS Primary have an open house for parents interested in the school?

I called up last year to ask if there was an open house and they answered no for P1 registration!! Actually i called a few schools - SJIJ included and all had the same answer!!

But then again -- me being a KS mother, i actually brought my kid to 'recce' the school when he was in K1 (one year b4 registration). More of letting him have a feel of the schools im interested in registering him in and see if he likes the school or not!! Infact - we brought him to a few schools!!
We went during the 2C registration of that year (on the pretext of registering the kid!) (so that was actually like a one year ahead kindof registering the kid planning!!)
Haha -- yup -- i was THAT KS!!
