I dunno if this question was asked before but how much pocket money do you give a p1 student? My cousin gave $1.50 but I realise some food in school cost $2 for a plate!!

Depending on what your DS will be buying, $1.50-$2 should be enough. I usually give him $10 a week. But my DS usually brings $1.50 to school. Occasionally when he wants to buy bottled drinks or more expensive food, he will bring $2. He likes to save up some money to buy books during bookfair in school. Anyway, don't give too much because the canteen sell snacks and your DS may end up buying snacks instead.

Btw welcome to the family. 🙂

Yes, I agree with bigfoot, dont give your DS too much. I gave my P2 DS $1.50 for recess and when he has extra class,$2 for lunch.

There is a vendor that sells ice-cream for $1.20, potato chips for $1, sweet drinks for $1.30.

The food used to be mostly around $2. However, after lots of feedback from parents, they have reduced the prices (actually, they reduced the portion). Which is fine as most P1 will not finish the whole big plate of wanton noodles, fried rice etc
Now they sell them for $1.
There are many different kinds of food selling for $1 - $1.20 . There are also many water coolers around the school. They dont need to buy drinks.

Maybe can pack food for DS as standby (kiasu) for the 1st 2 weeks if he is in P1 ... less stressful, for him & his buddy (a P4 boy will be assigned to him ). If he has a good buddy, this buddy will eat from the same stall as your boy. If he gets an impatient one....

I threw away the P1 worksheets last year but kept the textbooks. For P2, I’ll throw most away as well but may keep some of his better English compositions as a keepsake.
