With regards to the boy who went missing and was later found at Bishan MRT station, anyone with more information on how did the boy managed to go so far?

I assume he did not have EZlink card as he was supposed to take school bus.

Any of your son is in the Chinese Speech and Drama Club? Care to share what the Club does and if this CCA is worth joining?

I think in the past this is called the Chinese Elite Oratorical Club. Chinese Speech and Drama Club is probably a more apt name.
Children in this club in the past years will be taught by external engaged instructor to teach him stuffs like 绕口令 and will come together to practice and a play weekly which they will get to perform during the school's Mid-Autumn Festival Carnival.

If the child's has interest, this CCA actually helps boost Chinese oratorical skills and confidence. As the boys in school hardly speak to each other in Chinese these days and Chinese oral now cover a larger percentage in PSLE, in my opinion, it is actually pretty worth joining this CCA to expose the child.

Many thanks for your advice, usaik!

Alamak, the famous roti prata at Upp Thomson is only 80 cents each! How can Nonya Manis sell it more expensive than famous eateries outside who need to pay high rents and labour charges?

And I suspect they are just frying up the frozen pratas.

I totally agreed that $1 for a plain prata is too X.
When my son told me he paid $1 for his prata last week, I scolded him for not collecting his change. Not believing that it costs $1. I think $0.60 to $0.80 should be reasonable.

I am more concern about the drinks sold at canteen. I long suspected my son is buying drinks from the canteen as I caught him a few times when he was in P1. Though he promised not to do so anymore, I don’t believe him. I have to remind him every day not to buy sugared drinks during recess. He is P3 this year. Just now my maid told me my son drinks a can/bottle of isotonic drink a day cos he brought back the bottle. I am very furious with my son and I also think the school should audit the kind of stuff that is sold.

Hi this is my first post here. My DS is Pr1 this year. Something has been bothering me for the past few days. My DS told me that his Chinese teacher has been asking them to copy answers from the whiteboard during the chinese lessons. He has been doing this for the last 2 issues of "Hou Peng You". When asked if he was given time to attempt those qns on his own before copying the answers. He said "No". When asked if the teacher explained the answesr to the boys and again he replied "No, we just copied them down". I checked his work, there were answers written by DS but these are not his work but the teacher’s. I am not sure what the teacher intention. While trying not to interfere the teacher’s teaching, I am worried that DS is not learning anything during chinese lesson. I am in dilemma. Any parent having similar encounters in this school?

DS is in class 1D. Any parent from the same class? So far no chinese homework given. Also have not seen any chinese worksheet done and marked by his teacher. Am concern how my boy is doing for his chinese. On the contrary, his Eng/Math teacher Mdm Herni is v good. She updates us via email daily and am able to assess if DS is following her teaching. Kudos to her great job.
