HI Miracle .. I sent u a pm.... -
Hi Tiredmama and all mummies, glad to gain more information about MSHS and yes, I'm more excited and worried abt my boys going to P1 next year, given it's a stricter environment and they learning higher chinese..
Maybe i should intro myself a little more
I've 2 more gals in IJ Toa Payoh. Eldest gal taking PSLE this yr and the other in P3. All of us are stressful everyday.. homework , spelling etc... i can imagine next year will be worse as the boys start P1. Nonetheless, I'm ready to take on more challenge...being parents, we try our best to provide to the kids.. -

Hi t2,
Parents supposed to accompany the child....bring your cheque book...alot of expenses for the day. For MSHS, P1 - P2 their recess is catered in so you will have to pay for catering (you can opt out but must pack food for the kid everyday). From what is practised for P1s this year, they are not allowed to go to the canteen. They only allowed to play after they finish their food.
Other additional costs include buying of a lock for their lockers in school.
They were very organised last year....I think they should be ok this year too...heard that they ballot at 2B...lucky last year I didn't have that stress

1. For the catered food, what do they normally provide? Is a weekly fixed? My DS very picky. Gotta see if it makes sense to cater or have to endure packing food for him daily (always cracking my brains what to buy or prepare - have been doing so for all his preschool years).
2. Does each student have a locker?
Thanks.

1. Pizza or hot dog or fried rice or fried mee or chicken rice etc. Not very healthy food overall.
2. Every student has their own locker. -

Hi all,
My son will be going to MSH next year too. So happy to know that we have parents support group for MSH.
We stay >2km from MSH. So, I am quite worried if my son is able to adjust to the early timing (school bus pick up is at 6 am).
Anyone facing the same problem? -

I end up sending my son to school myself as the school bus comes too early. The school bus actually reaches school by 6.45 am though school officially starts at 7.10 am (morning reading). Students are only booked late by prefects if they arrive late for flag raising (7.30am).

I did ask bus driver before why they have to arrive so early but did not get any satisfactory answer. I guess it is so that they can leave to transport office workers. -
Dear All,
Great to gather so many infor about MSHS. I am going to register my boy this coming fri, hope he can get in as we live within 1km from MSHS.
Any suggestions on how to prepare for pri 1 so that my boy and myself will not get many shocks??? :? -
It’s a good idea to start him off doing some assessment books…I started my boy on P1 assessments 6 months before…it proved beneficial as it improved his reading skills…Simple addition and subtraction…
Start encouraging him to converse in Mandarin…very important…cos mostly the form teachers are their Mother Tongue teachers…
I adopt a teach ahead method…I start on a subject before the teacher so that when they’re in class, they are not totally clueless… -
thanks for the tip... now if I speak to him in Mandarin, he tells me.. \"huh ? I cannot hear u\"... :!: gets me all worked up !!! :x
Great ! once the 2C reg is over.. we will now how many of us here have P1 going in next year and can also consult the experienced parents on the group .... this is fantastic.... looking forward to knowing everyone
