I'm not sure. But I remember I read it somewhere. Anyway, we can ask the teacher tomorrow. Are u guys sure the teacher help to ensure the boys finishes their food? Back in our days, the teachers take their own little break. My son is a food thrower, whatever he doesnt like (and it's alot!) he throws away.

I am planning to move near Maris Stella High as I am not for the idea of school bus.
As I am not familiar with the area, can any kind soul pls advise me which area to look for if I want to move to a HDB near the school. Preferably less than 1.5km. I am planning to drive my son to school every morning. So the important consideration is the drive there must be direct (meaning, avoid turning or u-turning).
I can't find any in Joo Seng Rd. Serangoon Ave 1 and Serangoon Central is also not easy to find. Most of the flats for sale are looking for non-chinese.
Another consideration is Potong Pasir. Is it convenient to drive there? Looking at the map, it seem like Potong Pasir is easier because can go via Mt Vernon. But I was told the traffic is terrible in the morning. Any advise?
Or better still, anyone staying near Maris Stella planning to sell their flat? Let me know. I will be interested.

Is there any reason why no school bus for u? Moving house is the last resort as it is not easy, a lot of logistics involved. I wouldn't recommend it, especially since u stay in bishan right? Bishan is quite convenient.
What if your son qualified for cat high next time??
then u gotta move back. -

I don't like the idea of schoolbus as the children can be rowdy. We have many negative feedbacks from friends who used schoolbus. I need a place near the school so that my mother or MIL can pick up my son after school. So if it is near enough, they can walk or a short bus/MRT ride. I know moving house caused many inconvenience. I know caused I had moved numerous time over the last 10 years. Had discussed with my wife and weighed the pros and cons. We feel that moving is the best solution. Is there any reason why no school bus for u? Moving house is the last resort as it is not easy, a lot of logistics involved. I would say depends on which teacher your son get. Some teachers are more ON than others.

Traffic is ok if you can try to reach the school before 7am or latest by 7am. The turning into the school lane is a bit of a problem. What you can do is after a while when your son is more settled down, you may alight your son outside the gate (just behind the bus stop) & let him walk in so you skip the congested lane leading into the school.
And if you have no choice but let your son take the school bus home, just be open-minded about it. It isn't as bad. Tell your son to try to sit nearer to the bus aunty or bus uncle so they can keep watch on him (you can even have a word with the bus uncle/aunty about him). -
Im not keen in school bus also. But there are no choice for me, as I simply hate the idea of moving. My boy also has to take school bus, worse, the distance is longer.
:stupid:
Unless I can afford to buy another car.
Nearby Maris Stella, there aren't a lot of flats (unless u want serangoon central which is not very near also). The nearest flats, you gotta walk 500-600m also. And the roads are quite quiet in the evening.
Why dun u check with the bus vendor, see what are the charges, and whether the distance is long? Do they pick up your boy first and last to drop? If they pick up your boy last and first to drop, then I think the amount of time he spends in the bus will be short.maybe less than 30 mins. -

Long time no see...if you wanna move, try Toa Payoh or Braddell. Just take Braddell Rd up to Bartley flyover. Very direct. I am also thinking of moving there soon.
We are also gonna drive our kid to school every morning but thinking of having him take a schoolbus home 1-way. Will find out the costs tomorrow.
I will definitely be catering the food for him coz I don't want him to eat cold food from home. I also dun want to wake up at 6am to prepare the food! -
My boy didnβt manage to get a seat at MS, but whatβs the point of moving for that short distance difference? If want to move, should move nearer or next to the school mah. IMHO.

Hi smurf,
it's not that your boy didn't manage to get a seat at MS... you chose SJIJ mah coz old boy rite?
If really wanna be near MS, then can buy How Sun or Tai Keng... all landed. There may be one or two apartments I think.
