may i ask, for parents whose kids got in by balloting and being given priority to ballot becos stay near the school, does the school require you to stay in the same place for any minimum period before you can move out?

No, I don't think so. The school will not ask where you stay once your son is in but seriously, why are u moving away from the school? I am thinking of moving nearer to the school. Is in the process of looking for houses near the school. Preferably, my son can just walk to school everyday.

I like the idea of catering food too? Save me the hassle of of worrying about what my son will eat in school. Whether he has enough money, etc. Looking at the sample menu, the food are good. Great variety. And it is a good thing that the teacher help to ensure the boys finishes their food. My son is also a SLOW eater. Always one of the last in class to finish his food. At home we have to struggle with him finishing his food. Hopefully the urge to join his friends to play during recess will motivate him to eat faster. πŸ™‚

I wish the menu has fruits everyday. Are u guys sure the teacher help to ensure the boys finishes their food? Back in our days, the teachers take their own little break. My son is a food thrower, whatever he doesnt like (and it's alot!) he throws away.

Yes, the nearer the better as I heard from P3 onwards there will be alot of CCAs so school bus will be hard to arrange, it's either walk home or take public transport.

I'm not sure. But I remember I read it somewhere. Anyway, we can ask the teacher tomorrow. πŸ™‚

I am planning to move near Maris Stella High as I am not for the idea of school bus.

As I am not familiar with the area, can any kind soul pls advise me which area to look for if I want to move to a HDB near the school. Preferably less than 1.5km. I am planning to drive my son to school every morning. So the important consideration is the drive there must be direct (meaning, avoid turning or u-turning).

I can't find any in Joo Seng Rd. Serangoon Ave 1 and Serangoon Central is also not easy to find. Most of the flats for sale are looking for non-chinese.

Another consideration is Potong Pasir. Is it convenient to drive there? Looking at the map, it seem like Potong Pasir is easier because can go via Mt Vernon. But I was told the traffic is terrible in the morning. Any advise?

Or better still, anyone staying near Maris Stella planning to sell their flat? Let me know. I will be interested. πŸ™‚

Is there any reason why no school bus for u? Moving house is the last resort as it is not easy, a lot of logistics involved. I wouldn't recommend it, especially since u stay in bishan right? Bishan is quite convenient.

What if your son qualified for cat high next time?? πŸ˜‰ then u gotta move back.

I don't like the idea of schoolbus as the children can be rowdy. We have many negative feedbacks from friends who used schoolbus. I need a place near the school so that my mother or MIL can pick up my son after school. So if it is near enough, they can walk or a short bus/MRT ride. I know moving house caused many inconvenience. I know caused I had moved numerous time over the last 10 years. Had discussed with my wife and weighed the pros and cons. We feel that moving is the best solution. πŸ™‚

I would say depends on which teacher your son get. Some teachers are more ON than others.
