              michyms:

Thanks for the clarification. I guess my friend was from ACS Independent, which explained why he could not register his ds for ACS as an old boy.

              Hi michyms,

If my memory did not fail me, actually only full sch (eg. Cat high, St. nicks) allows such arrangement. Meaning if parents were nv in e PRI section but was fr their SEC section, ey can register their kids in e PRI section.

Most affiliated sch r not full sch. If parents r fr PRI section, kids can register in PRI section. However if parents r fr SEC section, kids cannot b register in PRI section.

Therefore 'affiliation' does not equate 'full sch'. Affiliation only means better
chance for PRI to SEC, SEC to JC (upwards not downwards) since cut-off
pts r lower in e case of PRI to SEC & bonus pts in e case for SEC to JC.

Since ACS independent (sec section) is not a full sch, yur fren will not b
able to register his DS in ACS PRI (PRI section) or ACS junior (PRI section).p

Hope my explanation is clear. πŸ˜„

Thanks for the explanation! Now I understand!

                Hi michyms, cantbearit2 and Tinkerbelle,

I was in my twenties when I had our DD1 and in my fourties when I had our DD2 :). One born in the 20th century and the other in the 21st century :)! I love going out with our girls. People get quite confused as the girls do not look one bit like me :). Have more of their father's genes. :). I look Asian while they both look very European. So wherever we go, most people will not know that we are related. We all laugh about it:). LOL!
Gin, your elder one must know be taking good care of her sister and also help her in her school work in future. So you can relax πŸ˜„

                  Hi michiyms,

My older one has a life of her own and I don't expect her to be helping out with her sister's school work. They love each other very much and that is all that matters :). My hubby and I will help our DD2 and it should be ok. Teaching wise, I am well prepared. The thing is, it all depends on how our DD2 takes to the stressful education system in Singapore :). My DD1 attended international schools while we were overseas. Back here in Singapore, I intend to let DD2 find her own footing as much as possible and let her enjoy her younger years :). I do believe in 'studying smart' without the overly long hours and drills that children are put through here in Singapore. I guess we will just have to wait and see..... :).

Gin, yes I do understand. I think at 22 years old, she is pretty much on her own. It's great that your dd1 had the opportunity to study in an international school abroad. That is wonderful exposure. Is she already in the workforce now? I agree that we should try to let our kids enjoy their childhood. I find that its a constant struggle to find that balance between letting them play, and pushing them in their studies in this rather stressful system. I hope I'll be able to find that balance somehow πŸ™‚
