i disagree. i like the black shoes with white socks. it makes it stand out. i spend 10 yrs in them. we were allowed to wear an inch high black leather shoes.
I agree. I wish the school would change its uniform to black socks with black shoes though. The current white socks with black shoes is really odd. Small matter though

Wld have registered my gal under 2A2 but because of no more Sec sch affiliation, I have to give up this choice.
But mcs will still be my last backup plan. -
The new side gate facing Caldecott MRT is open this year. So it’s very convenient now.
There should be school bus service to Sengkang.
So far, very happy with school bus vendors.
No extra charges required for CCA bus.
MCS is very warm and caring environment and they organised a lot of interesting activities for the gals.
My gal is enjoying her first year there and i’m happy that she’s happy with my choice of school. -
Dear parents,
I’m considering MCS for my dd, I wish to know what are the school hours and the recess time? For P1 students, are their parents allow to hang around in school for first few days and during recess time?
Also if any parents happen to be staying at amk ave 5 and taking school bus, what is the timing for pick up and how much is it?
Thanks in advance! -

School hours is from 7.30am to 1.30pm. Recess i think is from 9am. Only first day of school parent are allowed during recess. On first day, the recess session is 1 hr, parents get to spot their daughters in canteen behind a barricade. P5 buddy are assigned to guide them.

P1 orientation is very well organised in MCS. The buddy will bring them around for school tour. -
Hi, I’m keen to register my dd in Marymount. But there are some who said that pace maybe slow for fast learners? Is that true? I thought with the current syllabus, it’s impossible to have a slow pace!
I went to the open house and I really like the school… Hubby hesitant… -

Primary education with MOE syllabus should be quite consistent throughout our P.School. And they are too young to be deemed fast learners IMO. Most pre-school kids pick up things fast?

The syllabus is the same, but some kids really do mature and learn very fast. Eg maybe sent for enrichment classes since 2 or 4 years old and already know how to read & write long sentences/paragraphs...how to do addition & subtraction of multiple digits, memorized all their multiplication tables...Semester One hanyu pinyin is boring for them since they already know how to read & write Chinese characters very well.

So they may be bored with seeing all this again in the P1 syllabus.
As parents, I think we have an inkling whether our own child is a fast or slow learner. If really too fast compared to the normal child, consider:
- evaluate what skills (social/musical/artistic/sports) she may be lacking and can spend them building these more instead of studying academic stuff so early in kkndergarten;
- maybe enrol her to eg Nanyang Pri or somewhere very fast-paced if she really likes to be challenged. -
