Hi, the school principal did address this last year. No impact to school. Only the convent next to the school and its nursing care will be impacted.Dear MCS parents

Best if you call the school if you are bothered by this. -
just received the letter of the school will have to move to First Toa Payoh Primary School from Jan 2015 to Dec 2016 due to upgrading. This comes as a shock as the principle has always reassured us that the school will stay even there is upgrading within the premises.
If you are staying up further North like Yishun, you may want to reconsider as it will take more transportation time, however, ur kids will get to benefit the new facilities/upgrading. -

yes. i just read the letter and is totally new info on the time frame as well as the shift. personally, i don't tend to see this as positive news until there are more details e.g. whether single session or not in 2015-16.just received the letter of the school will have to move to First Toa Payoh Primary School from Jan 2015 to Dec 2016 due to upgrading. It is negative news to me. My current p2 gal will be p5 and p6 in those 2 years away, she is quite disappointed about the temporary holding place and the transport logistics will have to be replanned.
Hopefully the school can explain why the changes in plan and their new plan. -
Hi
iβm new here. Anyone have dd in p1 2012, staying in wdls? -
Just found out that an accident involving a P4 girl took place at MCS. She supposedly knocked into a pillar in the parade ground and suffered various injuries such as a broken nose and cheeckbone. Eyewitnesses have said that she bled a lot. I have also seen that the pillar which she knocked into has a sticky tape stuck on it which I have heard that it was to cover a crack on the pillar. There were also some blood stains left at the scene...
Very scary :nailbite: I hope that she will recover soon.
P.S. I'm a student

Thanks to both hoylj and Ohdaddy! We just want our child to have a holistic education and fun learning environment rather than just focusing on academics. Always knew, focusing 100% on academic is NOT the best way to educate a child. A child does need exposure in all aspects and build the necessary foundation to move on and adapt to todays' complex society.Oh I can't agree more with Ohdaddy. Initially we tried registering our dd for SCGS given that it is within walking distance. It happened that for that year, we were booted out during the inaugrual balloting for Phase 2C as there were many PRs who lived within 1km of the school then. Our hearts dropped when we heard that our dd was not selected. We then went straight to Marymount to register her in Phase 2C supplementary. With no regrets. Dd is now thriving very well, better than some SCGS girls of her age. MCS has lived up to its name to groom girls to become ladies of grace. So, do not think that only pupils of elite schools can excel. We should groom our daughters not just academically but holistically be a all rounder. MCS is one such good schools.
I can't think of more reasons why the intake is low for MCS other than there's no affiliation to secondary schools and of course there aren't many young families within 1km of school compound. I may be wrong here. But just look at Braderell Heights and you will know what I mean.
Hope the above is useful. Always believe that your dd can do well and the school is just there to facilitate the learning journey.
We have finally decided to withdraw our daughter's registration from our first choice school to MCS. I hope with the new ruling in place, my daughter can still get in to MCS without having to go through balloting, since we are PR.
If my daughter does get in to MCS during this phrase, I would love to get to know the other parents and learn more about the school and what we should look out for, since it is our first year enrolling our daughter to a local primary school.
thanks again for all your comments and advises! -
Just found out all applicants for Phase2C were accepted for 2013 P1. Looking forward in meeting the parents and my daughter starting P1 at MCS!
