Hi, do you mind elaborating on emailing the MOE? You have registered for CHIJ TPY under earlier phase, right? So, to withdraw, do we have to email the MOE? TIA.cookiecreamy:
Hello Everyone~
Just email to MOE and change our choice of CHIJ Toa Payoh to Marymount under 2C.
MOE kindly informed us to re-consider as CHIJ TP is under 1-2km range. We have Hong Wen as our alternative choice as is within 1km but in the end, we choose Marymount (>2km).
All the best to all!
Apologies, I didnt really kind of elaborate clearly. Mine was kind of different as we are currently staying overseas, so we can actually send our registration online or at Sg embassies. For us, we need to submit at least a week earlier if I remember correctly. We are registering under Phase 2C, so Im not sure is it able to withdraw from earlier phase. We are still waiting for our result. -

Hi all, I am thinking of enrolling my gal in either MCS or St Margaret in phase 2C. We stay more than 2km from both schools. How come the take up rate for MCS is slow for phase 2c? In a dilemma now as there is a high chance that there will be balloting for St Margaret. Can someone give me more confidence in MCS? Thanks!

Hi all parents!
I have just done my registration for MCS this afternoon and while I was there, I witnessed the practicing of the Rhythmic Gymnastics children.
They are real good and my girl was so attached with watching them she refused to leave.
The only problem I had was the children sitting down all around the lobby, next to the driver's passage ways, while waiting for ?bus to pick them homeโฆ Is this always like that or is this so disorganized due to the holding site infrastructure? I also don't see teachers following them to wait for the buses.
One more, as this holding site is very old (in fact I was in the same holding site years ago while my school was renovating)โฆ The lights are so bad along the corridors and passageways. Is there any potential problem / issue on this?
Anyway, I am glad and I hope we could form some chat here to build some rapport for future info sharings etc.

Me and my daughter were there too and yes she was amazed with the practice. I've been showing her pictures through MCS FB and that day it was the first time she saw them in (real) action

MCS is pretty strong in RG as well as AG (artistic gymnastics). In fact, if your gals are keen, they have the option to try RG, AG or any other enrichment like Netball etc on a non-competitive, recreational basis. CCA is not compulsory at P1 and P2 but some gals do like to try out these enrichment and see what they like! The commitment is on only a yearly basis (usually once a week during school terms) of which they can change to try something else in P2. This is entirely optional. Notifications will be sent in first couple of weeks of school. -

Agree with you that this holding site is really very old.. Sigh!
But trust me that the original MCS campus is really beautiful and perched on top of a hill. With the refurbishment and additions to be completed and ready to move in 2017, I think it'll definitely be worth the wait!

Cyn32, for kids stronger in chinese, will they get a chance to do hcl? Tku.
Hi,
Can I help to answer this question?
MCS will separate girls from P1 into different classes for MT (at least for Chinese, not sure about Malay or Tamil). These girls will go to different teachers for Chinese, and will be joining girls from other classes. The sorting is based on their MT performance in the early chinese class work. Thereafter, the girls will have the respective exposure. Thus far, my DD who is in the slightly better class for Chinese seemed to be given quite a bit of exposure for Chinese (though I'm not certain if it's comparable to the Higher Chinese syllabus, perhaps other more experienced MCS parents can help enlighten on this).
Only in P5 will girls better in Chinese be asked to choose Higher MT or not (though I'm not certain how much their performance in other subjects will be taken into account for this decision).
Thank you for sharing your insights lil_jade
I'm registering my girl next year, and considering between haig girls and marymount actually.. marymount is closer to my boy's current pri school, but haig is within 1km for us.. hence we are still undecided. It seems hgs offer kids higher chinese from p2, hence trying to understand mcs policy on MT. THank you for your helpful reply. -
Hiโฆ iโm new here.
Only have one daughter, hence this is the first time going thru this primary school thing.
Have just enrolled my daughter into mcs for 2016. But iโm jus curious and still dun understand why the take up rate for mcs is so low, other than the affiliated Sec sch? Anyone can share your tot?
And could anyone share about the student care thing? -
