Marymount Convent

Yea… i knew that. What i meant was other than they do not have affiliated sec sch, any reason why the take up rate is so low?
-
Guess everyone used it as a back school? Those who can’t get into St Nicks, CHIJ and all the ballot within 1km schools all head over there. Everyone has the idea that they can always go in at 2CS, so they didn’t bother to get in at 2C?

i think another reason is it doesnt have a dense residential population in its vicinity so competition is low. the sec school ceased almost 30 years ago

Wow, it's been that long? Actually I didn't even know it closed until recently. I remember putting it as my last choice during sec school selection. -

Hi BabyRR,
Thank you for sharing your insights lil_jade
I'm registering my girl next year, and considering between haig girls and marymount actually.. marymount is closer to my boy's current pri school, but haig is within 1km for us.. hence we are still undecided. It seems hgs offer kids higher chinese from p2, hence trying to understand mcs policy on MT. THank you for your helpful reply.
MCS offers Higher MT only from P5, and for selected students. P1 to P4 is normal Chinese. But in P1 Term 1/2, the girls will be assessed based on class assignments and they will then go to different Chinese teachers for class. The distinction is to allow girls to progress at Chinese at an appropriate pace.
Also, for all subjects, girls who are found to be needy (by end Semester 1) will be offered extra 1 hour small group specific subject consultation after school. Teacher will revise with them the syllabus.
Hope this helps!

Hi Lil_jade, thanks for welcoming! I am hoping the AG & RG can interest her further esp when she has been on ballet since 4 and has been enjoying them! Glad to see this forum active (some other school's like very quiet)... Your daughter(s) is(are) still in MCS currently? Are you part of PSG? Will it be too early to join now? What can PSG parents help with, especially when we are working parents.
Hi grapejuice and J_me, let's keep each other posted on the class our girls are posted to.. It will be interesting if we make them get used to one another before school term starts next year
Are you guys intending to let them join student care? And where do you guys leave? I am contemplating whether to put her on school bus. We stays at Potong Pasir unfortunately... -
Thanks for sharing info on the school. We have enrolled our gal in mcs reading the positive comments online.
Hi selene655 I’m staying at that area too. I intend to put my gal in student care and may arrange in laws to pick her up in evening. I’ve put my name for student care. Was told registration is done during orientation. -
Hi Selene655, I’m staying in Toa Payoh, so for the 1st year in the temp premises seems fine. Btw, P1 a AM session? As for Student care, can share with me what do they do there?
-
Hi jeanne12,
Your place is pretty near to PP? I am also thinking of contigent routes if I were not to be in time to pick her after school. I am trying not to get school buses for her. So you will not be putting her in student care I presummed?
Hi J_me,
I've also placed my name on student care list. Waiting for more info during orientation too. I think the school is single session already (as per MOE website) but I notice on MCS website it is different. Maybe current parents can advise further?
Lets arrange a playdate maybe before or after the orientation. The website says the orientation is on 20 Nov (PM) for MCS
