Vonne, my daughter is no 23, her name is Beatrice. So far she seems to be getting along well with her classmates though she did mention that some of the boys are rather noisy, haha! Oh and she’s been chosen as one of the group leaders.

Vonne, from what I gather through conversation with Beatrice, they are basically the helpers of the teachers - collecting books/work from the team members and then giving to the teachers or putting them in the cupboard. Good to instill these simple leadership skills and responsibilities from young. No, not going for the briefing on Sat. I teach piano and flute on Sat so can’t go. Hubby’s taking care of the kids so can’t go either. Anyway, they’ll be posting the info on the website as well.

I’m going for the briefing on Sat. So far from what my gal told me, there is no buddy system like the P2 will buddy the P1 during recess. Is it like that for last year? Sorry to say but i have never see a school who does not arrange for buddy syst for the P1s.

When my son was in Pri 1 in yr 2008 , the school still had the P2 buddy system . Dont know when they stop the system ? During my son’s first day at school, parents were allowed to go to school for 3 full days and now, we only have half day. Wondering is it due to change in school principal ?

i was surprised there were no buddy system! Day 1 and 2 I’ve asked and Travis said no one, no buddy.

But i heard from him that each child has a partner from his class and his partner is always missing… hee hee

jslow, which class is your child in?

Hi! My boy will be in P1 next year and I’m wondering if there will be swimming lessons for the students there? How about any CCA? Does anybody know what does the "Parent support group" in the school are involved in?

I do agree with the move in allowing parents in for only half a day, reason being, the sooner you let go, the sooner the child will be able to adapt. Of course on the other hand, the child may get scared and resist going to school…

As for buddy system, I think P2s are a bit too young to be a buddy. The P3s or P4s were out to help last week, guiding them to the school hall from the various entrances. Otherwise during recess, teachers are around so I guess they’re there to help those who need a helping hand.

Cbreeze, parent support group can be involved in ad hoc projects, eg, fund raising events, student field trip etc. Also can help with reading, mentoring the weaker students. That’s what I read on the parent volunteer form.
