Recently send my child to the centre @ Carmichael. The centre is clean and the principal is very nice to parents. Always feel so welcome by her greetings. Didnt know that the centre is so near to Toa Payoh / Bishan until one of my gf told me about it.

                hi there,

im hunting for a gd school for my dd in serangoon area. think my dd the same age as yrs. born 08?

i have absolutely no idea abt all the preschools n kindy there. may i kw y u decided on the kinderland kindy in serangoon?

my dd w alr be 3 in jan 2012, so i thou it might b a gd investment for me to put her in a kindy first rather than searching for another sch later.

but for serangoon north area, i only heard gd recommendations of cambridge, schoolhouse by the garden and preschool by the park. i have yet checked out these schools as im not in favour of private property schools. bad air ventilation, bedroom turned classrooms, hazardous stairs, centres usually not so clean maybe becos outdoor area plus private property, entire compound usually does not hav ample sunlight always dark too. then again have to check out the centres then we w kw.

do u kw anything abt these centres or visited them yrself? im new to serangoon area. pls share any advice. thank you!

I have just withdrawed my girl from Nursery at Kinderland YCK. I am not sure if I would enrolled her into this school again for K1 next year but my reason for enrolling again would be because my girl enjoys school and taking school bus very much, loves the outdoor area and already has her clique of friends that she enjoys playing with. Her mandarin improved tremendously and seldom fall sick too.

Curriculum wise, I like it very much. But I am having issues with the teachers who seem to be not very professional. Broken English and lots of grammer/spelling errors in the comm book(my feedback with regards to this was not replied). Not much emphasis on reading and writing too. I can say my withdrawal was rather impulsive but I am sure if you were in my shoes, you would be mad as well.

The teachers called me up one day to say that my girl finished her work first and went to ask her classmate to play with her but her classmate was still busy with his work so he felt disturbed/agitated and took the scissors and snipped at her fingers! She got cut and bled but did not cry, instead the boy cried for his dear life. The teachers somehow put the blame on me saying she had no sense of danger. Please, I would have taught her this basics at home. I thought it’s the teachers’ responsibilty to supervise the kids especially when sharp objects are involved? Sigh… I am still very upset that such an incident took place. 2 teachers to 12 4 years old kids. How tough can that be? The ratio is already pretty small compared to some other schools.
