Kinderland

Karenjj:
I have just received the revised fee plan from Kinderland today. The school will phase the intended increase in fees over 18 months for existing children. The new fee for existing children will be $1,390, effective Term 3 2012. And subsequently, the fee will be adjusted to $1,500 from Term 1 2013, and finally increased to $1,610 from Term 1 2014. There are also mention of additional educational resources, new furniture & paintwork, computer upgrades which will take place in Jun this year.
I am, however, disappointed that there are still no action taken to increase the school hours. Most of the Preschool that I know of are already on a 4-hour program but Kinderland is still doing a 3-hour program. And personally, I feel that 3 hours in school is not enough for effective learning, expecially for K2. But having said that, I am glad that the school has taken steps to address our concerns on the school fees.
I prefer a 3-hr programme. I want my children to enjoy their childhood and that means, other than going to school, I want them to have time to play and have plenty of rest. -
I agree with you that children must enjoy their childhood and have plenty of time to play and rest. That is the reason why we choose a Preschool instead of Childcare. They will get to play after school and have plenty of rest at home
However, in my opinion, a 3-hour programme is not enough for effective learning. Do note that they have half an hour of snack / lunch time in school, which is also part of the programme. And more often than not, the teachers are unable to follow the timetable strictly due to unforeseen circumstances. I have, in fact, witness classes starting late many times due to children crying or with other interruptions... As such, I feel that an additional hour will give both the teachers and children more time to facilitate learning. This will be especially helpful for the K2 children who are preparing for Primary 1 in the following year.

Hi all, I am new to this link and thus pardon me if I am asking something someone already asked or said…
Would like to seek for some feedback. My son is in k1 kinderland preschool yio chu kang now. He has been in kinderland for 2 years now and so far we have seen his growth in various areas.
Due to some reasons, we now need to consider sending him to a childcare from next year. It is a tough choice cos we signed him up at preschool because we wanted to give him an environment similar to a primary school instead of including routine day to day work like shower nap etc. The fact that he is doing well In k1 and that he liked the school and used to the system makes this a hard choice for us. In any case, I do agree that the 3 hours system is really too short especially because my son takes the school bus and the journey is almost half the time he has in class. Also, the recent fee hike makes the 3-hour program very expensive.
Given that kinderland yck has childcare as well, we are considering putting him there. However we are concerned on the quality of the cc service there. We see that the school has mainland Chinese teachers and I have seen that they just leave the students one side sitting on the floor and then chit chat or make calls.
Does any parent here have any kids in kinderland yck childcare? Would greatly appreciate any feedback especially if your kids are in the kindergarden level. Also, would like to know the fee after the hike. Thanks a lot,

Hi,
I will like to check with parents who have children in pre-n1.
Is there a curriculum for this age group?
When I visited the centre, they gave me the impression that the children are too young to do much learning thus they focus more on skills development? Even their comm book to the parents assesses the child’s skills.
I do know that they have 4 themes a year but when I probed further, they did not elaborate specifically on aspects of the language are they learning.
Do they teach the children phonics?
How about math?
Any comments or advise is greatly appreciated.
Thank you. -
Hi, any latest feedback from Kinderland at CCK, Sunshine Place…am thinking of enrolling my ds in this pre-school…or anybody know of this pre-school, Ichiban Nurtureland Kindergarden at 31 Hong San Walk.
Thank you. -
Hi Awonder…
My son is going to Kinderland @ CCK SunShine Place, he is in N2 this year… SO far, he loves to goto school and meet his friends and teachers… They do have theme for each term… like this term(Term2) , they had Ants theme for English and Caterpillar-Butterfly theme for Chinese… They learn phonics also but u’ll not notice it now… They don’t bring works hoem and they don’t do homeworks… But they do Home-link project twice a year for English and Chinese, with help from the parents… Now, the fees are a bit expensive but i think its worth it… You may arrange for a school tour along with your child so you can decide better… -

My girl previously attended the pre-nursery class there and she didn't like it. So I have switched her to another centre. The PRC teachers are nice but I didn't like the cleanliness standard there and her form teachers, one has a bo-chap attitude and the other will purposely shower a lot of attention on my girl when I am around, which I find it \"really fake\". Just my own personal opinions.
