      Hi i3mum,

A 5 year old should having no problem in handling painting. Anyway, the teacher's job is to guide the kid, right? My kid did some simple poster painting (learning different shades of colours) at Kids Art and preschools too. Of course, cannot expect nice beautifully painted pictures. But it's good exposure minus the mess for us (at home). 😉
In our Art & I studio, we have 4YOs doing acrylic painting and they are doing well for a few reasons:
      A. We try to cultivate good learning attitude in them
      B. They enjoy their lessons
      C. Their intrinsic personality
      D. Their born talent that is being unleashed
      E. Their parents' good efforts in managing their temperaments at home

Our classes are all 2 hours and these 4YOs can sit through the whole session.

Anyone can share their experience with Kids Art? Thier registration fee had been doubled to $60 & the program is $90-$100 for every 4 lessons.

          That's alot for registration.

          Titank,

Do you have any idea the duration for $90-$100 for every 4 lessons?

          TIA

The duration is 1 hour. So on average is about $22.50 to $25/hour.

              Hi Charmaine,

              1. Our courses for term time of 2-hr duration is $20 per lesson and during holidays is $30 per lesson(2 hr)

              2. For 5YO new to art, we first let them learn to draw, observe and paint techniques but there is also a need to use their hands to make things to supplement their acrylic painting. Our focus is to empower the creativity they have in them and allow them to discover their own power. Lesson is only one part of the overall training, we also do exhibitions and art contests to spur them further in their creativity juices. We will pitch the object according to the child's level.

              3. For calligraphy and calligraphy art, we have designed it as holiday art camp which can be found here:

              http://artandistudio.blogspot.com/2010/10/dec-school-holidays-art-camp.html

              4. Our website is being re-contructed so meanwhile all details can be found here:

I highly recommend Lollipop http://www.lollipop.com.sg/ at Bangkit. They were previously at Ten Mile Junction but just shifted to Bangkit as of 29th Nov 2010. My son is there for about a year plus and my younger daughter joined him when she turned 3 y/o and is there for about half a year already. Because we are moving to the East soon, I am now looking for a art class for them to attend.

I made a compilation of the art classes mentioned earlier.

I m keen to sign up my kids (5 & 3+) for art lessons. And I went to see a few art enrichment classes, been to global art, Art Zone & Kids Art (at Tiong Bahru).
There is this art school called CAVA (creative atelier of the visual arts) at Bt Merah. You may want to check it out

                    http://www.cava.com.sg

My nieces learnt art there when the school were previously in katong and now my daughter is taking lessons at the current premises

I have stopped sending ds1 to kids art since nov last year cos they have getting part time Nafa students to teach and they don't really know how to teach. Kassie and Adrian are hardly at the Tiong bahru branch. And they want to shorten the lesson from 1.5 hr to 1 hr.

                        I cant agree more!
My friend's kids were taught by all these Nafa students who don't know much about kids psychology at all. They don't know how to engage them and most seem to do it asa pasttime or a way to make money?
I myself wouldn't trust these youngsters to take care of my kids, even if they can do art...
Why should my kids be made guinea pigs of youngsters who are themselves learning art?
I think most parents hear the name nafa and think they're in for a good deal, but I think the outcomes should speak for themselves....
                        Just my humble opinions.
