To connect, Punggolites must either grow either very long arms or be at least 10 feet tall. πŸ˜†
πŸ˜† But hor,...... we are Sengkang-ers!

Sounds pretty disgruntled to me. I'm not even sure what you are even griping at now, with your latest post, you have vacillated between the g'ment not serving the people, to now, the g'ment serving the people, but using nefarious means. Which is it?

The g'ment didn't swindle or embezzle, they did not conduct a war of aggression against another nation, they did not abuse and exploit aboriginals.

Yes, they have a hard nosed economic policy, which fills the coffers.

            Is that a crime?

You have a mighty big chip on your shoulder, and you don't even realise it.

If you have an issue with people telling you to accept one thing, but they accepting another, please don't be a child to your parents, since they will be telling you to study, whilst they are out gardening or reading the papers. Please don't work in any kind of company, since the boss will be telling you you are getting what you deserve whilst he may be taking double your pay.

It's a funny axe you are grinding. If indeed you aren't the envious type, one wonders why all the examples you've brought up till now are material ones........on one hand you don't care where people dine, on the other hand you get insulted...... :?
Indeed. Material examples. Doesn't that speak volume of the kinda government you have there?

I don't want to get personal with insults even when you are. Ironically, you behave in the same manner as the miws when challenged.

I haven't contradicted myself. The only reason you find me contradictory is because you haven't thought about issues from others' standpoint.

Sure. They don't swindle or embezzle. You mean you haven't heard what they say about why they need such fat paychecks - to stay upright and clean.

                Also,

Town Council office paid by PAP or paid by residents?
This is so strange. I always thought that Town Council is just like condo managing agent. They come and go but the money still belongs to the resident. They are in the condo just to manage the upkeeping of the condo including collection of management fee. Where got they take away their desks (for example) just because the residents appointed another managing agent? The desks were bought using residents' money mah... The Town Council office should have been paid by residents. I don't understand why they need to mention that the office still have 5 years lease :? If it is leased using the residents' money, then it should be returned to the residents. Hopefully this issue will be solved amicably otherwise it could be another PR nightmare.

No, lah. I was thinking that town council as a corporate body should be like condo MCST, and town council members should be like condo management councils. Some small condos don't have offices so have to use managing agent's office. But town council cannot be so small leh.

Actually I think town councils have to be gazetted. So, maybe Punggol-Pasir Ris town council was gazetted to include Punggol East, and maybe even Sengkang West. Then it became one big mess because nobody thought about what happens if one of these SMCs go bye bye... I think they weren't planning on there being by-elections. πŸ˜†

If you ask me, I would think that some of these town council and MND people have absolutely no idea what they are doing. And these people are supposed to be the elite type...

Time for a broad based review of town council management? Oh, wait a minute... πŸ˜‰

Some aunties asking me, \"Aye, town council by opposition never clear rubbish, transitions will be very messy, people are in for trouble...\" All the hearsays driving me up the wall.. Felt like asking them, if support PAP why never wave to them when they came round in the hippo bus - why all siam? :slapshead: ......... πŸ˜†

Tell them... Hougang and Aljunied GRC flats have not turned into slum...

Our place is near the hougang trademark flats (those blue ones with welcome to hougang or something like that). We didn't realise we got ourselves a place in opposition ward at that point... Personally, I feel there is no difference as the amenities are there (MRT, malls, lots of buses to choose from, markets, etc...). Now wondering if our property price will go up further since we are in the opposite ward. Err... can that be a selling point??? Ok just kidding πŸ˜†

A friend was looking for property in the area and we realised that the private development prices in the hougang/ kovan area is comparable or in some instance can be more expensive than the katong area. So is that the price of a slum ???

To me these are the necessary qualities of a leader in government:

with vision and foresight for the country,
with charistma to connect with the people (to win votes?)
with excellent management skills to manage a ministry or a constituency
Most importantly, like everyone is saying, with a heart to serve the nation and its people.

Now should we add to the above list?
He and his family must live in HDB, take public transport, and he draws a salary no different from most of us (median salary of the country?). Oh not forgetting, his children and grandchildren must attend neighborhood schools.

If someone can find such a person, I don’t really care he joins which political party, I will definitely vote for him. Hopefully, we find enough of them to form the government.

Realistically his or her party must have enough stewardesses to service the people on the ground. Managing a constituency (of all sorts of characters) is no joke compared to managing a ministry (of civil servants paid to obey your orders). πŸ˜‚
