Notice many of your kids are having common test during this period of time but funny, ds sch has no common test. His sch only has a mid year and final year exam that's all....is his the only sec sch that does not have common test? And what is the impact without them doing the common test?
Personally, I think it is beneficial to have Common Tests. The kids are taking many new subjects for the first time and it is a good gauge of how well they are coping. If anyone don't do well, the school will identify these students early and they will have to undergo Structured Study Programme. -

:hi5:DS Common Test out of the way and he didn't do too badly, just many careless mistakes.
This week, DD in P4 will start her CA1. :xedfingers:
Common test are over...he did well for some subjects, now waiting to know results for history, science and English. I encouraged him to keep it up.
Daughter having CA Chinese 2day...started last Thur with Math.
Supermarkets are kinda empty...could be some parents don't want to cook, preferring to eat at food courts/coffee shop and then quickly get back to revise with kids. Cooking and washing up can be time-consuming. -

Maybe remedial classes will be given to those who did not do well in the common tests.pchong:

Hubby and I were at NTUC yest evening and there was hardly any queues...coffee shops and eateries were having long queues though.
After CNY weekend, that NTUC was packed but for the past 2 Sundays, it was quiet.
Hope our kids here did well for their first tests...with longer hours and more subjects, it's much tougher from now.

In fact, I just bought 2 titles yesterday from Popular. One is by casco which includes cloze, grammar and some other components...I plan to get him to work on cloze during march holidays and read up literature. -
Thank you so much Janet for your recommendation.

You are welcome…guess we are in same boat…kids have more subjects and we don’t know where to start and how to help.
Popped by Popular just now. Saw this new publication by Victoria…only avail for Sec 1 so far. 综合练习…cloze passages. -
Ya agreed with you Janet, one hand hope to let go and let her to be more independent, the other hand still worried for her subjects. This round common test all subjects she did well except her English fails by 1.5mks. Really worried for her and feel 心有余而力不足.
