wow... how long did ur boy learn before he gets black belt?[/quote]about 3 or 4 years (can't remember exactly). but he would have been faster, we held back 1 year so he could fight in red belt category (haha)...
sorry.. missed this question. my son started around 4+ and got his black belt last year (he was 8 yrs ). my daughter started later, at 5+ and she has moved up to green belt after about 8 months.learningtobekiasu:

Can care to share the TKD your child had with JH Kim? I'm trying to put both kid (Age 4 & 7) to learn TKD either in TKD schools or CC. I notice some CC don't accept small age like age 4.
JH Kim organizers grading at their own premises every 3 months, hence kids tend to grade up faster than places like CC clubs (my own opinion, not based on any statistics). on the flip side, they are a little more costly then most other clubs. -
So in summary now there are 4 TKD school in Singapore, namely as follow:

My kids love his sessions.
as for my husband and I, we join bcos we would like to learn n brush up on the ‘proper’ technics from a true blue Korean master. I understand that Master Eom has gotten his 7th Dan recently. -

yup. they do. no idea on the percentage. but for competitive sparring there are probably fewer girls than boys particularly in the older age groups in the junior categories - more chance to win medals in primary school! haha -

tkd is a korean martial art based on kicking and blocking techniques while aikido is a japanese martial art based on locks, holds and throws - like judo. -
for girls in primary school to learn some form of self-defence, what would you recommend ? TKD, Akido, or others ?
-
for boys - is it better to learn wushu, TKD or Akido ? why ?
-
Wonder would any CC take in TKD for age 5+ kids a not.
-
Yes I did enquire & they suggest to come in maybe the kid at age 7 or 8 then start. Yes CC is quite a big group but those TKD school on average cost like $100-$120 per month.

I’m just starting to consider TKD for my 5 year old son. What are the charges of lessons like in private schools and how do they compare to those at CCs? I checked a couple of websites but they don’t list their course fees.
Thanks! -

Hi, I hope I can help!
I am a student and I am learning taekwondo at a CC, the differences between a TKD club and CCs are:
1. The course fees
(etc. TKD Clubs are of course more expensive...)
2. The learning environment
(etc. TKD clubs are air-conditioned, while CCs are not)
(etc. The training sessions at CCs are on hard ground, which makes your foot kindda painful after each session)
3. Depending on different CCs, the size of the class may differ. My CC, they have many groups-according to your belt. (about 5-20) in a group. So, I think you can learn quite well too.
My english isnt perfect but I hope these infos help! -
Umm... Hi, juz wanna ask if taekwondo could help you to run faster and build stamina.
