        I always suspect when there is no MSG, they prob add sugar, dun feel thirsty. otherwise why the soup is sweeter than home cooked soup?

          it's quite impossible for soup to be sweet without msg when we eat out...at home, we use better ingredients and as such we get natural sweetness...carrots, chicken, potato, pork ribs sold outside are lower grade or else stalls cannot survive.

            Can add sugar cane to boil soup for natural sweetness.

              Hubby and I decided to go for tingkat dinner instead of cracking head over what to cook everyday. This way, we can save the time and spend on kids instead.

              Can anyone kindly advise difference between standard and premium package? We are also thinking of using Select. Read a post here about food being delivered nearer dinner time. Also, what else should I look out for? Urgently require your inputs. Thank you.

                I suggest you opt for a trial package, whether standard or premium than to commit to a month’s package. If you don’t like it, there is no money back.

                For myself I have given up on Tingkat, at least those I have tried. They arrived too early, usually very salty and the portion varies.
                What I do now is cook the rice and the soup and when I run out of ideas to cook, I go to the nearby coffeeshop/food court to "Tabao" the dishes. It could be Chicken Cutlet or Pork or Fish dishes and it will be hot and look more appetizing. Doesn’t cost too much either.

                  I am trying to look for a suitable tingkat dinner but shared the same sentiments with wiimum.

                  It may be cheaper to "tabao" dinners occasionally. I cook simple dinners; rice with soup and steamed food.

                    I have tried tingkat before. 3 different companies before in fact. Personally, I don’t really encourage cos the food really tastes horrible. The vegi contains a lot of chemical smell. and also please Don’t be misled by the word "no MSG" if they ever advertised cos the taste is really not there. My take is that if u really need to have alternative home cook meal:–

                    1) rice–cook on your own as it can be easily prepared by yourself,
                    2) soup-- throw all ingredients in slow cooker in the morning before you goes to work and will be ready by the time you returns from home;

                    3) vegi, meat-- get it from neighbourhood coffee shop ‘economical rice’ outlet.

                    Even as (3) contains msg, the food will definitely be tastier than those tingkat.

                    This is just my 2cts worth and personal experience.

                      I’ve tried tingkat meals from various companies. They are all about the same. Don’t have high expectations. Also, meals tend to be delivered really early (around 4pm), so you need to have someone at home to take them in, or the food would just be left outside your home to fester.

                      Like what others have suggested, between tingkat and ta-bao, ta-bao is better! But of course you can always try tingkat. Just lower your expectations.

                        I don’t plan to use tingkat long…just try out for a month first since school just started…think it’s better NOT to have expectations bcos food can never match up to home-cooked ones.
