        Hi,

just want to ask all the mummy whom order tingkat here.

        - Is tingkat more cheap then you cook yourself at home?
cos for me I find is a bit ex to do home cooking cos i buy most of my ingredients at wet market and is not cheap man it cost me about 50-70 per week.

        - Why you chose to order tingkat?

My maid is going back end of May and i will be taking care my 2 children myself, one is gg to 3yrs old and one is 15 mth only.

Do you advice tingkat for such a young age children?

        Thank you very much!!!

        Cheers
        EIleen
On my opinion tingkat is definitely more expensive than home cooking. The only good thing abt tingkat is the convenience. When i need to work OT, it is quite impossible for me to rush home and get dinner ready on time. Alot of times how much one spend on marketing has to do with budgeting. Certain nights will be nice seafood dinner and on others will be simple vegetables, stir fry pork and a egg dish. It keeps the budget in check and also maintain good health. I add lots of toufu dishes in my meal preparations and avoid processed food like nuggets or hotdogs. For my family of 5, 2 adults, 2 school going children and 1 tod, my dinner ranges from $5 to $20. I also avoid food in small portion as they tend to be more expensive (and i have no time to do marketing daily).

        Examples of this week dinner.
        1. Kway tiao soup (kway tiao, red snapper, celery, mince pork, prawn) -$10
        2. Rice, stir fry hairy gourd w tang hoon, steam promfert, omelette -$8
        3. Rice, herbal chicken (whole chicken), xiao bai cai - $7
        4. Porridge, stir fry celery (left over), steamed mince pork w toufu, sambal stingray - $6
        5. boycott- not cooking.

These meals are usually quite ok with my non spicy kids, except sambal stingray. The older one will do some courages attempts, otherwise there is always toufu and pork to rely one.
Preparation is not so much of a problem it is the meal planning that is troublesome. Once u have everything planned out, it is alot easier and cheaper (no wastage).

The problems with tingkat (not the mentioned company) are portions of food small, salty etc.

Home cooking may look cheaper but think of the time-spent in food preparation.
There is no doubt that home cooked food is cleaner and thus healthier.

              Hi,

I have tried Kims Kitchen and Hilltopkb. I find HilltopKB's food portion to be bigger and the food is still warm when we had our dinner ard 6 plus. Soup definitely taste better than Kims Kitchen too.

Hi, so far I hv tried only the trial from both tingkats. The trial for five days for kims kitchen is $50 and $63 for hilltopkb. If u like a better quality soup n bigger portion, hilltopkb would be a better choice. Btw, I order for 2 pax
