For those out there with Empire, do they have a trial? If so, how much and for how long? Any idea where is their kitchen? Their kitchen is in Woodlands and I wonder it's a good idea to choose them as I stay in Sengkang and prefer delivery around 11am-12pm for lunch.
Just to share - I've been ordering tingkat lunch delivery from empire food for the last 2 months and have just discontinued as their meat dishes are disappointing, especially pork and fish. The pork ribs are mostly bones without meat and always have a funny smell and it applies to the fish dishes as well. Big pieces of chicken skin are often found in their soup, spoiling our appetites and we'll always give it a miss. Service also not professional , especially when i sent an e-mail to them to terminate the order and they replied with only a one line answer without any proper addressing . With this 1st and only experience with Tingkat delivery, I've decided to resume cooking and believe it'll be a long time before I decide on the next caterer. -
need to order dinner delivery but neo doesnt deliver to my area and with empire, was pretty surprised by the attitude of the receptionist. when she told me she need to check with her driver to see if he can deliver to my place, and when i asked when she could get back to me, her reply was “if never receive call, means no sending there”???
anyway, really need dinner delivery so have to start calling again. -
After reading all the postings here, I was debating whether to get from:
1. Moms Cooking - more pricey but more premium food or
2. Empire Cooking - reasonable price but mixed reviews..
Finally decided to order from Empire Cooking for 20 days starting next week to see me through my maid's home leave period!
Rationale being I reckon for Moms Cooking due to the higher price, may not have many people ordering and hence the freshness may not be there. Also kinda influenced by the recent review on the \"same smell/taste\" of the soup.
Lets see Empire how. I was greatly influenced by mrswongtuition's review as well. And she mentioned delivery time to Thomson area is around 5 pm which is just right for me.
Will see how it goes!

I am still with Empire now...since Nov last yr. But instead of 5 days, I changed to 3 days last mth bec getting sick of tingkat. I wld say that whichever company we select, it all depends on who the chef is! Beginning of this year, Empire's chef changed. So the taste and the dishes have some changes along the way. The new chef started w 'new' taste - more salty and very spicy. With feedback, the taste become very blend. Now, the taste is more 'normal'. But all 'eatable' to meAfter reading all the postings here, I was debating whether to get from:

:celebrate:That prob explain why I can tahan so long - taste diff from mth to mth! But 2 things quite constant are 1) chicken and pork dishes are on alternate days. 2) on days where there is chicken dish, the soup is chicken too, and days w pork dish, soup is pork as well.

Hi nonKiasu,
Had my first Empire dinner today! I must say the dishes are really quite edible, although plain a bit but OK since no MSG and not too salty is fine with me!
Todays' dishes:
1. 2 Fried chicken legs
2. Braised Tofu with Eggs
3. Bean sprouts (quite fresh, clean and crunchy!)
4. Pork soup with winter melon & wolfberries (quite ching dan and nice!)
So no leh, got pork soup but dish is chicken. This is fine with me because my maid cannot eat pork leh so she got to forego the soup!
Based on today's dishes, I will give it a thumbs up!
