I thought with MOE rule change this year, we expect to see better chances for Singaporean kids?
This rule sets in only when there is balloting in a particular phase. -
The results so far for scgs are v discouraging for p2b and p2c parents. any parents going for 2c scgs within 1km here? what are your thoughts?

SCGS Pri 1 registration data.

Don't look good coz balloting within 1 km for the last 2 years. No point lamenting about it. Put in all your energy and concerntration in preparing a back-up plan. Just move on. -

I do not remember SCGS has to ballot in phase 2b. In 2011, everyone got in under phase 2b and there were some seats left for phase 2c. It is phase 2c that is very competitive. But average neighbourhood schools, especially those in the west, are more competitive than SCGS. -
alng:
Yes no balloting in 2b at least in the last 5 years. Last yr 3 places were remaining in 2b and spilled over to 2c i think. Last year, there was no balloting in 2c as number of applicants = number of places.2hotTOhandle:

We are SC and live within 1km and fall under 2c but it looks risky this year. I am prepared to ballot but only if the odds are not very high. Will have to look at plan B in earnest! Hope 2b parents will consider other less risky sch since most of them are gl!

We are in 2c (<1km) and thinking of doing so but, after looking at the number of places left, are terrified of the consequences of doing so. Not sure what to do yet...... -
Blur Papa:
So many variables - whether your child has younger siblings to consider, proximity of Plan B schs, affiliation. I think everyone has different considerations. For me, I have a younger daughter so I am more focused on girls' schools that are within reasonable distance.2hotTOhandle:

Phase 2b of scgs will be interesting as this is the first year that grls from
Moulein- kallang will participate. Previously scgs was under tanjong pagar. -

Very curious if the GRLs from Moulmein-Kallang will be more than, almost the same level or probably lesser than those from Tanjong Pagar?
